A Metroidvania built around discovery and curiosity. Play as Bolt, a cat exploring a floating whale-city where you might melt walls with soap, become a rat to talk to enemies, or even hack the rules of the world. Explore, experiment, and uncover Whalington’s secrets. Curiosity doesn’t kill the cat.

About This Demo

Welcome to Whalington, a floating whale-city filled with mysteries and unexpected discoveries. Here, exploration goes beyond unlocking abilities and finding hidden paths.

Use Rule Terminals to hack the rules of the world; change yourself, alter objects around you, and experiment with possibilities you might never have considered.

Sometimes, the most unconventional solutions lead to the most rewarding discoveries.

Follow your curiosity and find your own way forward!

What's Included in the Demo?

  • The demo features four areas: the Sardine, the Kitchen, the Cabins, and the Residence. The Kitchen is fully explorable, while selected sections of the other three areas are available.

Estimated Playtime

  • Main Story: Approximately 60–90 minutes

  • With Exploration: Approximately 90–150 minutes

Please Note

  • The map layout and main story progression may change in the full release. Some content may differ from what you experience in the demo.

  • No generative AI was used in the development of the game's original content. However, the current Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Italian localizations use machine translation. We're aware that this may affect the player experience and are actively working to improve translation quality.

Look more than twice, poke around every nook and cranny, and try the idea that probably shouldn’t work. A bottle of soap might get you through a wall, and a room that looks completely sealed might be hiding a secret passage. You never know what a little curiosity might uncover.

What if you could hack the world and rewrite the rules yourself? Turn HP into keys. Become a bomb-laying hen. Or transform into a rat and suddenly talk to the enemies you used to fight.

Change your abilities to alter the world around you, and discover just how far you can bend the rules. Who knows what else you might find?

Every area in Bolt of Whalington is unique. In one section, walk along walls in anti-gravity zones to move and dodge danger. Or maybe a location is only reached via teleporting through a toilet. In another area, encounter Schrödinger's platforms, where light plays tricks on reality. Just when you think you've figured out how things work, Bolt of Whalingtongives you something entirely different to discover.

Explore an interconnected world, switching between Bolt's agile feline form and the power of his mech to overcome different challenges. Unlock new abilities, discover new routes, and reach places that once seemed impossible to access.

Return to familiar areas with new abilities and uncover secrets you never knew were there.

Every boss has a few tricks up their sleeve, and what worked in the last fight might not work in the next. Dodge unexpected attacks, learn their patterns, and find the right moment to strike.

Unlock new weapons and combat abilities, grow stronger, and take on even tougher challenges.

There's more to discover than hidden paths and secret rooms. Keep an eye out for little surprises scattered throughout the game. Some are almost impossible to find, but that's half the fun of finding them..

And who doesn't love a game within a game?
