What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Soul Merger is being developed by a very small team and combines mechanics that are rarely brought together in the same game: direct combat, auto-battler elements, unit summoning and merging, roguelite progression, and team building.
Because of the unusual nature of this combination, the game’s balance and development can greatly benefit from the experience of an active community. Early Access will allow us to observe how players use the different features, to understand which elements work best, and decide which direction the project should evolve in.
Soul Merger is intended to be a game that grows together with its community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Soul Merger to remain in Early Access for at least six months.
The actual duration will depend on the development of new content, balancing, and the feedback we receive. The game will leave Early Access only when we consider it complete, sufficiently polished, and well received by the players who took part in this stage of its development.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will include many more enemies, new bosses, additional summonable souls, unique merges, and special levels with rules that differ from traditional runs.
Some of these features and special modes will also be developed based on community suggestions and feedback.
During Early Access, we will also continue working on balancing, build variety, progression, clarity of information, performance, and the overall quality of the experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already includes the complete core gameplay loop of Soul Merger. Players can directly control the necromancer, summon the souls of fallen warriors, merge identical units into more powerful versions, create different team combinations, fight through waves of enemies, and face boss encounters.
The main combat, summoning, merging, upgrading, and progression systems are already implemented and playable. Some content, balancing elements, quality-of-life features, and aspects of the game’s presentation are still in development. As a result, significant changes may be introduced during Early Access, and players may encounter bugs or balance issues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“At the moment, we do not plan to increase the price of Soul Merger when it leaves Early Access.
However, if the development period becomes longer than expected and the game grows significantly beyond the original scope, with substantially more content than initially planned, we may consider a small price increase. Any potential change will be communicated to the community well in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will be able to share feedback, suggestions, bug reports, and thoughts on balancing through the Steam Discussions and the official Discord server.
We will pay particular attention to feedback regarding ideas for new levels or special content.
Player feedback will help us define update priorities and guide Soul Merger toward its full release.”

About This Game

Soul Merger is a merge auto-battler roguelite. You play a necromancer in a world where humanity is at the mercy of the undead. Summon the souls of fallen warriors, merge them into stronger units, and craft your path against the horde.

Your souls fight on their own, and you are down on the field with them. Move the necromancer, aim your magic, and time your skill activations to effectively annihilate your enemies. Watch the enemy's guard, position yourself, and build your army properly, or they will shrug off your damage and you won't take them down.

Merge two matching souls to push them a tier higher; each tier unlocks a new soul with unique abilities and perks. Or attempt a mixed cursed merge and see what comes out. Be wise, though: merging blindly is not always the smartest choice, as synergies between units can be the key to win.

Every unit is the soul of a historical or mythological warrior: a duelist, a healer, a lamp-bearer who lights the dark biomes. Each carries a signature skill and a random trait that steers its behavior, so the same soul can hold the line one run and charge headlong the next.

Customize your camp, raise buildings, train your favorite units, and interact with the last humans still alive. Prepare yourself, and when you are ready, head back into the wilderness to fight your enemy.

Features

  • An active auto-battler roguelite with a necromancer you control directly

  • Merge identical units to climb tiers, or attempt a random merge and hope for the best

  • A camp you build between runs, with training and various services

  • 10+ enemies to encounter and defeat

  • Progression across 100+ territories and distinct biomes, plus an endless Survival mode

  • Cute souls against skeletal undead, wrapped in an offbeat sense of humour
