About This Game

About This Game

The Last Sideran is a fast 2D arcade shoot 'em up about survival, defiance, and the last light of a vanished people, with sci-fi visuals and select stylized 3D elements.

You play as Zenia, the last Sideran. Her people are gone, but the machines built to watch and control them still remain: the Spikes, relentless hunters that fill the screen with danger. Gather star essence to stay alive, chase it into risky spaces, and seize weapon power-ups when a run gives you the chance.

Four modes share the same tight arcade core; play it as a campaign, a pure score chase, or a race against a draining clock.

Career

Zenia's story unfolds across five chapters as you climb levels, survive key encounters, and defeat bosses. Unlock ships, uncover the truth about the Siderans and the Spikes, and follow her all the way to Rebirth.

New Game+

Finish Career and begin again at Level 7 with everything you earned, pushing beyond Rebirth into the run's hardest stretch.

Arcade

The original score-chasing run. No story gates, no permanent upgrades — just escalating stages and how far your reflexes carry you.

Essence Rush

Time is Zenia's life. The clock drains every second you fly; star essence buys it back and every hit takes it away. No shields, no extra lives, and a score table of its own.

Unlock New Ships

Every run starts with the Navy Interceptor. Collect star essence to unlock five more ships, each with its own weapons and combat style. When you reach a new stage, your ship changes to a random unlocked one. The game goes through the full lineup before repeating a ship. Across the six ships, you'll use forward lasers, shotgun blasts, dual cannons, support drones, explosives, and more.

Career Mode

Zenia's story unfolds as you reach major milestones, survive key encounters, and defeat bosses. Push farther to uncover the truth about the Siderans, the Spikes, and what remains after the fall.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

We used AI early in development to help create rough drafts and temporary material. Anything used in the final game was reviewed, edited, and reworked by the developer. The game itself was designed and built by the developer, and no AI content is generated while you play.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

The game contains stylized characters in revealing but fully clothed outfits, discussion about ending reproduction and no longer having children, and ending symbolism that may resemble an egg and sperm without depicting sex. The introduction contains dialogue referring to torture. Unlockable classroom and assessment stories discuss hypothetical actions or past events involving the possible killing of a teenage character, increasing her prescribed pain-medication therapy, and possibly “putting her away” so she becomes like everyone else, suggesting institutional confinement and forced conformity. The stories also discuss morality, responsibility, blame, and evil. All references to killing, torture, medical harm, or harm to minors occur only in dialogue; the game never visually depicts anyone being tortured, killed, or medically harmed. The game contains no nudity, sexual acts, sexual stimulation, or masturbation.
