About This Game

"Al-umbra" is a suspenseful and surreal Metroidvania where you play as Vince, a frightened child armed only with a lantern, his sole source of light in a never-ending nightmare. Explore haunting dreamscapes shaped by fear, imagination and memory of a child. To escape, Vince must face his deepest fears to find a way to wake up.

Switch between different Light States to illuminate the darkness, uncover secrets, repel threats, recover energy, and discover new ways forward. How you manage your light can change how you explore, fight, and survive.

EXPLORE A WORLD OF CHILDHOOD FEARS

Journey through surreal areas inspired by fears from Vince's childhood. Solve light-based puzzles, uncover memories, meet strange characters, complete side quests, and face enemies and bosses born from his imagination.

PLAY YOUR WAY

Discover new abilities and unlock Pajama Suits that change how Vince moves and fights. Combine them with Echoes—passive abilities inspired by his memories and imagination—to create your own approach to exploration and combat.

FACE YOUR FEARS
