What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Touchline Capital is a systems-driven football business simulation where many mechanics interact over long periods of in-game time. Player development, scouting, transfers, club placement, commercial value, staff management, company expansion, world football simulation and the financial economy all influence one another.
The core game is already playable, but balancing a simulation of this scale benefits greatly from real player feedback and long-term save data. Early Access allows us to improve balance, usability, performance and clarity while continuing to expand the game together with the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Early Access to last approximately 12 months. However, the exact duration may change depending on player feedback, balancing needs, performance improvements and the development of planned features. We would rather continue refining the game than leave Early Access before the overall simulation reaches the quality we want.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand and refine nearly every major part of the simulation during Early Access.
Planned improvements include deeper football-world simulation, additional scouting and client-management interactions, more varied commercial projects, improved company expansion systems, richer match presentation, improved AI decision-making, additional generated content, expanded staff and player interactions, improved long-term balance, better performance in very long saves, and further UI/UX polish.
We also plan to continue improving localization and presentation across the game.
These are development goals rather than guarantees, and priorities may change based on testing and community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core game loop is fully playable.
Players can create a football business company in different parts of the world, hire staff, scout generated players, sign and develop clients, place clients at clubs, manage relationships and contracts, participate in commercial projects, build influence in different markets, expand internationally, follow matches and player performances, manage company finances, and progress through multiple seasons in a continuously simulated football world.
International competitions, including the World Cup, long-term player careers, staff development, generated player cards, company progression, financial risk and failure states are already implemented.
However, the game is still actively being balanced and polished. Some economic values, player progression, placement costs, commercial rewards and AI behavior may require adjustment. Long-running saves may also expose performance issues that we are continuing to optimize. UI presentation, match presentation, localization and overall usability are also still being improved.
Players should expect a functional but actively evolving simulation.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase gradually as substantial new content, features and improvements are added during Early Access. We have not committed to a specific price increase or schedule at this time, and any future pricing changes will reflect the state and scope of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will be an important part of Early Access development.
We plan to collect feedback on balance, long-term simulation behavior, economy, player development, scouting, client management, match simulation, UI/UX and performance. Reports from long-running saves are particularly valuable because many systems only reveal balancing or performance problems after many in-game seasons.
We will use Steam discussions and our community channels to review bug reports, suggestions and player experiences. Updates will continue throughout Early Access, with priorities adjusted when recurring issues or particularly useful feedback emerge.
We also want players to share unusual stories and unexpected outcomes produced by the simulation, as these help us understand where the game's emergent systems are working well and where they need further refinement.”

About This Game

Touchline Capital is an emergent narrative management simulation set in the world of professional football. Rather than taking control of a club, a manager, or a player, you run an agency built around the football industry. You can establish your company in almost any country in the world, begin with limited local contacts and resources, scout for players, sign clients, build a staff, and gradually expand your business into new markets.

Your clients are the core assets of the company, and scouting is where everything begins. Scouts search for players worth following based on their own ability and their knowledge of the local football environment, but their evaluations are never completely reliable. A young player believed to have enormous potential may never develop as expected, while someone who initially looks unremarkable may become a top-level footballer several years later. Once you sign a client, you have to decide how much of the company's resources you are willing to commit to them. You can assign a suitable agent, have scouts continue to follow their development, help place them at a club and league appropriate to their level, or invest in promotion and commercial activity once they begin attracting attention.

These decisions can affect how many opportunities a player receives, but they cannot directly determine the course of their career. You may spend money to place a young client at a stronger club, work to secure more playing time, and later help convert good performances and public attention into fans and commercial value. In the end, however, whether that player actually succeeds still depends on what they do on the pitch. An ordinary client may become one of the company's most valuable assets after several seasons of development, a national-team call-up, or a breakthrough tournament. Another may struggle for minutes, stagnate, or fail to develop, leaving years of investment with little return.

The company does not earn money from transfers alone. Contracts, renewals, transfers, and individual honours can all generate commission, while clients with larger fanbases and stronger commercial value can attract sponsorship and other business opportunities. As your company's influence, operating base, and understanding of different national markets grow, you can enter new countries, take on commercial projects of increasing scale, and reinvest the capital earned through player representation into broader business activity.

Expansion also increases risk. Scouts can misjudge players. Analysts can misread the risks behind an investment. A client who has received years of support may decide to leave, while a rapidly growing staff can create a wage bill that becomes difficult to sustain. If the company expands faster than its finances can support, a failed project, the loss of an important client, or even several months of cash-flow pressure may be enough to start bringing the entire operation down.

The objective is not to discover a fixed optimal strategy. Instead, you are constantly deciding what is worth investing in, which risks are acceptable, and when the company should expand or pull back. You begin as a small agency operating within a limited local market, then move into new countries, compete with domestic and international rivals for players, projects, and market share, and attempt to build a global football business capable of leaving a strong record on the persistent historical leaderboard.

Touchline Capital is not about giving the player complete control over the football world. What you control are the decisions made by your company: where the money goes, which scout you trust, which client receives your support, which market you enter, and how much risk you are willing to take. What happens afterwards is shaped by player development, matches, clubs, markets, and competing agencies. Many of the stories that matter most are not written in advance. They emerge from the interaction between these systems as the world continues to move around you.
