What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Bound to Rot is built around systems that need real players to break them, itemization balance, depth scaling, entropy combat, and the Delve node economy all need volume that solo development can't replicate. Early Access lets me tune the game against how people actually play it, not how we think they will.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“12 to 18 months after the early access release. The core loop is playable now. That window is for the seasonal system, ladders, class expansion, and the deeper Anima biomes to reach a state we are proud to call 1.0.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access ships with three classes, one Anima biome, and the core Anima loop. The full version adds more classes with distinct skill trees, additional biomes with unique enemy factions and node types, the full seasonal ladder system with competitive rankings, endgame depth mechanics, and the complete item pool including set items and Legendary uniques.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The full core loop is functional, character creation, Anima descent, branching node choices, permadeath, and extraction are all in. Combat, itemization across all five rarity tiers, the spatial inventory, and darkness mechanics are complete. What's missing is content volume, additional classes, and the seasonal infrastructure. What's here is tight and playable.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're not planning on changing the price when we leave early access”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Directly. Balance numbers, Anima difficulty curves, item affix pools, and node reward tuning are all things the community will have real input on. We'll run public feedback threads after each update mainly via discord, track what builds people are finding broken or useless, and be transparent about what's coming next. The seasonal model means the game resets regularly, that's a natural rhythm for gathering data and shipping changes that matter.”

About This Game

Bound to Rot is a dark fantasy action RPG built around one ruthless question: how far can an angel descend before the mortal vessel carrying them rots away?

You are an angel, a soul reborn into a Vessel of your choosing. Each descent into the Anima is a gamble of flesh and fate: clear rooms, gather rare gear, and push deeper... or turn back while your body still holds. Stray too far from the Pulse, linger too long, and the darkness will collect what you owe.

Die, and the vessel is gone. Everything. Gone.

An Angel in a Mortal Vessel

Reincarnate as a Myronian warrior, a Theran fighter, or a Pyrrhian knight, each vessel carries a passive gift of its own. New vessels unlock as your soul proves itself in the deep. The soul endures. The vessel does not. The deeper you fall, the faster it rots.

The Pulse and the Tarot

Every room you clear, the Pulse deals a four-card Major Arcana spread, face-down. Flip them one by one. Each card carries a direction, descend deeper, hold your ground, rise toward the light, or return to the Hub with your spoils, plus a boon or bane that reshapes the next room, and a reward that only drops if you survive what follows. The World always lets you leave. Death always tempts you deeper.

Itemization That Actually Matters

Six damage types. Hundreds of affixes. A spatial grid inventory that forces real decisions about what you carry out.

Items roll on drop and never change, what you find is what you get. Common scrap or a Legendary with a unique red-text mod that rewrites how your build works.

Dark, Deterministic Combat

Hit resolution runs through an Entropy System, no pure RNG streaks, no invisible dice rolls. Accuracy, evasion, and per-entity entropy values produce combat that feels fair even when it kills you.

Seasonal Ladders

Every season wipes the slate. Climb the competitive ladder, race to depth, and carve your name into the rankings before the reset erases everything and the cycle begins again.
