Dungeons and Treasure II: Game Overview

Dungeons and Treasure II is a voxel-style action roguelike designed for desktop play with full support for controllers. It is an endless, fast-paced adventure where players navigate procedurally generated environments filled with unique enemies, traps, and boss encounters.

Core Gameplay and Structure

The game focuses on a continuous loop of exploration and combat. Players progress through handcrafted rooms that are stitched together randomly to ensure every run is different.

  • Endless Scaling: The game does not have a final floor. Instead, the difficulty increases the longer you survive. As you progress through different loops, enemies gain new abilities, health, and damage, while the environment becomes more hazardous.

  • Persistent Progression: While standard gold is lost upon death, defeating bosses rewards a special currency. This currency is used to permanently unlock new items, weapons, and companions, expanding the pool of gear available for future runs.

  • Save and Exit: Progress can be saved at any time in single-player mode, allowing players to pause a run and return to it later.

Combat and Customization

Survival depends on the equipment and buffs collected throughout the dungeon. With over 100 different items, the game allows for a wide variety of combat styles.

  • Weapons and Shields: Players can utilize melee and ranged weapons, each with distinct stats. Shields provide defensive options, requiring players to balance protection with aggressive play.

  • Buffs and Companions: Passive upgrades can be stacked without a limit, allowing for significant power increases during a run. Additionally, companions can be found to assist in battle by attacking enemies or casting curses and buffs.

  • Active Items: These provide specific effects that must be manually triggered, adding a layer of tactical timing to combat.

Environments and Hazards

Each environment features its own atmosphere and mechanical challenges.

  • Unique Bestiary: Every zone contains 6 to 8 unique enemy types with specific behaviors. As the game loops, these enemies become more complex, eventually gaining multiple abilities.

  • Traps and Secrets: Dungeons are filled with traps that can strike from any angle. Players will also encounter hidden rooms that contain either high-tier rewards or dangerous ambushes.

  • Navigation Tools: Waypoints allow for fast travel between discovered areas and reveal larger portions of the map. A minimap is also available to track dropped items and explored tiles.

Multiplayer Features

The game is built to be played solo or with a group of up to 4 players through a flexible multiplayer system.

  • In-Game Economy: Players can find shopkeepers within the dungeon to spend gold on items, including gear that has not yet been permanently unlocked.
