Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Troublelings is built around movement, physics and multiplayer interactions, which makes player feedback especially valuable. Early Access gives us the opportunity to see how players approach the climbing systems, weapons, enemies, bosses and multiplayer mechanics in ways we may never anticipate ourselves.

We want to use that feedback to improve balancing, polish existing mechanics and decide where the game should grow next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Troublelings to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 to 18 months. However, development priorities may change based on player feedback and the direction the game takes during Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access we plan to expand Troublelings with additional environments, enemies, bosses, weapons, items, cosmetics and gameplay mechanics.

We also intend to continue improving movement, climbing, physics interactions, multiplayer systems, balancing, performance and overall polish based on player feedback.

Our goal for the full release is not simply to add more content, but to make the existing systems deeper, more varied and more polished.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable both solo and in multiplayer, supporting games of up to 12 players.

Players can currently explore three distinct biomes — SandLand, Dungeon and SkyIslands — using the game's climbing and movement systems, including jumping, double jumping, wall running, ropes, anchors and vines.

The game also includes multiple enemy types, boss encounters, weapons, unlockable items and boss-earned cosmetics.

Multiplayer includes a lobby browser and support for players joining games that are already in progress.

The core gameplay loop is playable, but balancing, content variety, performance and individual systems will continue to be refined throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to increase the price gradually as Troublelings expands with substantial new content and features during Early Access. The exact timing and amount of any increase will be communicated in advance. Players who join Early Access earlier will receive the game at its lower introductory price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an active role in shaping Troublelings throughout Early Access. We will use the Steam Community Hub and Steam discussions as the main places for players to share feedback, report bugs, discuss balance and suggest improvements.

We will regularly review player reports and discussions about movement and climbing, multiplayer balance, difficulty, enemy and boss encounters, weapons, items, performance, and unexpected physics interactions. This feedback will help us prioritize balancing changes, bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and the areas of the game that should receive additional variety or refinement.

We will also share development updates and explain how player feedback has influenced upcoming changes. While the core direction of Troublelings is planned, community input will directly influence the order of priorities and the refinement of its systems and content during Early Access.”

About This Game

ABOUT THIS GAME

You weren't exactly invited.

You and the other unlucky "volunteers" have been thrown into a series of dangerous expeditions where climbing, fighting and occasionally making very questionable decisions are the only ways forward.

Go alone, team up with friends, or jump into a public game and see how far you can get.

CLIMB YOUR WAY

Movement is at the heart of Troublelings.

Climb freely through the environment, jump, double jump, wall run and combine movement abilities to find your own route through each area.

When your hands aren't enough, use physics-based climbing tools such as ropes, anchors and vines to reach places that would otherwise be impossible.

There isn't always one correct path. If you can figure out a way up, it probably counts.

PLAY SOLO OR WITH UP TO 12 PLAYERS

Play completely solo or join other players through the multiplayer lobby browser.

Create your own game, find an existing expedition, or allow new players to join while a run is already in progress.

Lobbies support up to 12 players, with hosts able to choose how many people they want to let into the chaos.

More players can make an expedition easier.

They can also make everything considerably worse.

FIGHT BACK

Not everything wants you to reach the top.

Face different enemy types with their own behaviours and attacks, and take on powerful bosses with increased health, unique mechanics and special attacks.

Find and unlock weapons and useful items that give you new ways to survive each expedition.

Defeating bosses can also reward you with cosmetics, giving you something to show for all those terrible decisions.

EXPLORE DIFFERENT WORLDS

Each biome brings its own environment, traversal challenges, enemies and atmosphere.

The current game includes:

SandLand
Cross hostile desert environments filled with vertical terrain and dangerous obstacles.

Dungeon
Explore dark underground structures packed with traps, enemies and confined climbing challenges.

SkyIslands
Leap and climb between islands suspended high above the world, where one bad move can result in a very long fall.

Additional environments, mechanics, items, weapons and challenges are planned throughout development.

PHYSICS MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER

Ropes, climbing equipment and other interactive objects use physics to create situations that aren't entirely predictable.

Use them cleverly to save yourself.

Use them badly and you may discover entirely new ways to fall.

EVERY EXPEDITION IS BETTER WITH QUESTIONABLE TEAMWORK

Help another player reach safety.

Throw them a rope.

Fight a boss together.

Watch someone miss an easy jump.

Whether you're climbing seriously or causing complete chaos with a group of friends, Troublelings is built around the unexpected moments that happen when players, movement and physics collide.
