What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Snake: Gridbreaker is already playable as an arcade roguelite, but the game benefits from real player feedback on pacing, difficulty, build variety, readability, controls, and long-term progression. Early Access lets us tune the core loop with players while we continue expanding the game’s content, polish, accessibility options, and platform features.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Snake: Gridbreaker to remain in Early Access for around 12 to 18 months, depending on player feedback, content scope, and the amount of balancing and polish needed before the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to have a broader roguelite content set, including more run upgrades, permanent progression, hazards, enemies, objectives, story events, balance tuning, accessibility improvements, Steam feature polish, and overall presentation polish. We also plan to use Early Access feedback to improve difficulty pacing, build variety, controller support, Steam Deck readiness, and late-run content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is a playable arcade roguelite built around classic Snake movement with modern run-based progression. It includes multiple player classes, procedural levels, hazards, enemies, pickups, shops, objectives, story events, upgrades, accessibility and visual settings, localization, achievements, leaderboards, and save progression. Some content, balancing, polish, and platform-specific testing are still in development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We may gradually raise the price as the game grows in scope and content during Early Access. Any pricing changes will reflect the amount of content, polish, and features added over time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to collect feedback through Steam Discussions, reviews, bug reports, update posts, and player suggestions. Community feedback will help guide balance changes, readability improvements, accessibility work, control polish, progression tuning, and priorities for future content updates.”

About This Game

There is no tutorial.

And there won't be.

The Grid does not explain itself.

It tests you.

Snake was simple:

eat apples, grow longer, avoid the walls, avoid yourself.

But this is not that Snake.

In Snake: Gridbreaker, you are trapped inside a living grid loop that wants to keep you in.

Every run is a fight to escape the old rules before the Grid adapts, surrounds you, and pulls you back.

Break the Rules of Classic Snake

Grow longer.

Get stronger.

Then start cheating the system.

Choose snake classes that twist the classic formula in different ways.

  • Phase through forbidden paths.

  • Chain speed.

  • Build around greed.

  • Survive with armor.

  • Turn old Snake rules into tools you can exploit.

The Grid Fights Back

The board is not passive.

Enemies hunt you.

Hazards reshape your route.

Biomes change the pressure.

Gatekeepers stand between you and escape.

You are trying to escape the loop.

Every Run Is a New Attempt

Collect upgrades.

Find strange powerups.

Adapt your build.

Push deeper into the Grid.

Reach the Gatekeeper.

Break out.

Or fail.

The Loop wants you back.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI was used as a major production tool during the development of this game. It assisted with code, visual assets, UI elements, icons, localization, store assets.

The developer directed the creative process, reviewed and edited the generated output, tested the game, and made the final decisions about what was included.

The game does not use live generative AI during gameplay.
