About This Game

Story

Your brother said he tested security for companies — the kind of work that's better off not talked about. It sounded boring and believable, so you never pushed. Two weeks after he disappeared, the police hand his things back to your parents. Among them, a USB stick. You plug it into the home computer. An unfamiliar system installs itself, and a moment later Mentor speaks — an AI that teaches you to hack from scratch. How it got here, you'll understand only later.

The whole game takes place on a single desktop — a hacker's operating system from the year 2036. The terminal, the network, and how much you can pull out of it. You find your targets the way someone genuinely searching would: you read. You lift a handle from someone's profile. The handle leads to a forgotten site from years back. The site gives up a name. The name — an IP address. Only then do you connect.

The break-in is methodical and tense. You scan ports, crack them one by one, watch the progress bar climb. You hop between nodes, slip past the firewall with the right exploit, listen for hidden machines. Sometimes the intrusion detection system wakes up and fights back — your proxy against its, in real time, until one of them runs out of memory. You take what you came for. You wipe the logs. You disconnect. Every one of those moves has its price.

You hack from the home computer, from your room at your parents' place in Gdańsk. Every mistake leaves a trace, and the traces add up — across the entire game, with no "clear" button. The higher the heat climbs, the closer someone gets to knocking — not on your door, on theirs. Your brother got out of here first. You want the same thing: earn enough for a place of your own and drop off their radar before you cause real trouble. Except the longer you follow his trail, the harder it gets to say whether you're looking for your brother — or becoming him.

What to expect:

• Terminal and mouse do the same thing — type the command or click it, your call.

• Recon through the living internet of 2036: social media, email, job boards, a private police force with a most-wanted list. This is your case file.

• Heat that never resets — consequences come back on a delay: posts, emails, changes in the world.

• A black market for tools and hardware. Better CPU, better odds.

• Your own pace — the tension comes from risk, not from a clock.

The year 2036 is five minutes from today: digital identity, biometrics, corporations woven into everyday life, protests against eID. Cool, sparse, grown-up — the most happens in what's left unsaid.

From the developer

I always wanted to make games, but life went the way it goes for a lot of us — work, the daily grind, the dream put off until "someday." I work in a warehouse, and it's there, between one task and the next, that my characters are born: who they are, where they come from, what shaped them.

When AI models arrived, something in me stirred. Every day — at home and at work — I started learning how they work, until I realized that "someday" could be now. That's how My Brother Hacker was born — my baby, the game I'd wanted to play for years.

I won't hide it: I use AI to help me. Without it, what I dreamed up would have taken me a good ten years. But AI didn't invent any of it for me. Every quest, every mechanic, every character and their story — I design and build myself. I sit with every generated photo until it fits, down to the detail. Every spare moment I have goes into this game.

This isn't an assembly-line project. It's my dream, made out in the open — and I'm glad you're here with me from the start.
