What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game has a lot of content on how human brains work, and the implications for romance, friendship, work, and other aspects of life. We hope early access users will help us better understand the topics players want to know about, and what they'd like to learn about those topics. We'd also like feedback on the tone and wording of the conversations. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until we've got a better idea of what content people want, and how they want it presented. Perhaps about six months, but we can't know yet.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have content refined by audience feedback, both the topics, and the content on each topic. The voicing of the conversations will be complete as well. There will likely be refinements to the interface, but were not sure.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All the topics and explanations are complete. All content is there, as far as we can take it without more feedback. All planned game features are complete.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be discounted by 15% during early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The game's menu includes a feedback tab, with a link to a Discord server. Players can also use Steam forums.

The game will (we hope!) interest people who care about living fulfilling lives. We plan on asking for feedback on forums such people might be active on, like philosophy and psychology subReddits.”

About This Game

Your brain evolved to find mangoes and escape leopards. Today, you have internet trolls, not leopards. Your brain is amazing, but doesn't always match today's world.

Good news! We have something leopard-dodgers didn't: science. Researchers have studied brains, bodies, groups, romance, work... many things.

Flourishing helps you learn how to lead a more satisfying life, based on the research. A good marriage, less family drama, a better working life, and more. The info is scattered around a third-person cozy exploring and collecting game.

You play Spinel, a dragon wanting to help their human friends. Spinel has small islands to explore. Each one is about a topic like brains, romance, friends, and meaning. Interact with plants to start conversations about the topic and release cute creatures. The creatures might have ideas for helping humans flourish.
