What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Sword & Sweep is being developed by a solo developer. Early Access allows me to gather feedback from real players, identify balance issues, discover what builds and strategies are fun, and prioritize the features that matter most to the community. My goal is to use player feedback as both playtesting data and a guide for future development, helping shape new content, improve existing systems, and make Sword & Sweep the best game it can be.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I do not have a definitive timeline for Sword & Sweep's Early Access period, but I currently expect it to remain in Early Access for at least one year.

This will provide time to gather player feedback, make balance adjustments, expand existing systems, and add new content. As a solo developer, I want to ensure the game has the opportunity to grow based on real player experiences and community feedback before reaching its full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version features a complete 5-floor dungeon experience and serves as the foundation for future development.

Planned additions for the full version include new game modes such as Endless Runs, Boss Rush, challenge modes, and other alternate ways to play. I also plan to introduce dungeon biomes that add unique environmental effects to both exploration and combat, creating greater variety between runs.

Additional planned content includes new character classes, enemies, bosses, weapons, items, relics, affixes, difficulty options, and progression systems.

As development continues, community feedback will help shape priorities and influence which features are expanded or added before full release.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable and includes a complete 5-floor dungeon run from start to finish. Players can choose from multiple character classes, battle over 30 unique enemy types, collect and equip a variety of weapons, armor, relics, and affixes, and face unique bosses that challenge the core mechanics of the game in different ways.

While the core gameplay loop is complete and actively playable, Early Access will be used to improve balance, refine existing systems, expand content, and incorporate player feedback. Additional classes, enemies, game modes, items, affixes, and other features are planned throughout the Early Access period.

Players should expect ongoing updates, balance adjustments, bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and new content as development continues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“There are no current plans to change the price of Sword and Sweep”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play a major role in the development of Sword & Sweep throughout Early Access. I want to know what works, what doesn't, what feels fun, and what feels frustrating. Player experiences will help guide balance changes, quality-of-life improvements, and future content updates.

While I have a long-term vision for the game, I believe the best ideas often come from people actively playing it. I plan to regularly review feedback, bug reports, balance discussions, and community suggestions as development continues.

At the end of the day, I'm building the game I want to play. The more feedback I receive from players who enjoy the same kind of experience, the better Sword & Sweep can become for all of us.”

About This Game

Sword & Sweep is a roguelike dungeon crawler where every fight plays out on a hidden puzzle board.

Descend through a procedurally generated dungeon filled with monsters, treasure, relics, bosses, and a few things you probably weren't expecting. Every battle is a deduction problem: find the weak points, avoid the parries, and figure out what you're actually up against before it kills you.

Every enemy fights differently. Goblins, spiders, undead guardians, gargoyles, hydras, and more have their own board layouts, abilities, and quirks. Knowing how something fights matters just as much as what you're carrying when you meet it.

Choose a class, claim your equipment board, and start making decisions. Weapons have distinct attack patterns, affixes stack in interesting ways, and the right combination can completely change how you play. Finding that combination (or stumbling into it) is most of the fun.
