♟️ Traditional Chess

At the heart of Checkmate Kingdoms is traditional chess.

Every piece follows the familiar rules of chess. Control the board, anticipate your opponent's next move, protect your king, and find the path to checkmate.

Newer players can start with lower difficulty settings, while experienced players can challenge stronger AI opponents and focus on deeper tactical play.

⚔️ Historical Scenario Battles

Scenario Mode draws inspiration from the wars, crises, and turning points that shaped ancient civilizations.

Not every battle is simply about delivering checkmate.

Some scenarios may require a key piece to escape the battlefield. Others may ask you to escort an ally, capture and defend strategic locations, break through an encirclement, or survive under pressure.

The movement of each piece remains rooted in chess, but every battlefield gives those familiar rules a different objective.

🏛️ Civilizations with Their Own Identity

Each civilization is designed as its own army rather than a simple recolor of the same chess set.

Kings, queens, soldiers, cavalry, fortresses, pedestals, armor, and weapons are reimagined around the history and visual identity of each civilization.

Rome and Egypt form the foundation of Ancient Origin, with additional civilizations planned as the game continues to grow.

🎯 Quick Battle

Quick Battle lets you jump directly into a traditional chess match without campaign progression or additional objectives.

Choose your faction and opponent, set the AI difficulty, and begin the match immediately.

It is the fastest way to experience the core chess battles and civilization-themed presentation of Checkmate Kingdoms.

👑 Grow Your Civilization

Progress through Scenario Mode, earn stars and Gold, and develop your chosen civilization.

Unlock visual upgrades for your buildings, chessboard, and army, and watch your kingdom evolve as you advance through its campaign.

Progress and rewards are tied to each civilization, giving every kingdom its own journey and sense of advancement.

🌍 Toward a Larger Imperial War

Imperial Mode is currently in development as a larger turn-based strategy campaign that expands beyond individual chess battles.

Move armies across a strategic map, attack enemy territory, defend your borders, and decide where to commit your limited forces.

Each victory on the chessboard will become part of a wider struggle for territory and influence as a small kingdom grows toward an empire.

🤝 Multiplayer

Multiplayer is planned as part of the wider Checkmate Kingdoms experience, allowing players to bring their civilizations and armies into matches against other players.
