What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are a two-man team building a 7,400 km² world. The core systems are up and running, but a project of this size benefits massively from real player testing. Early Access lets players jump in right now to drive the roads, use the multiplayer, and hook up their fitness gear. In return, player feedback helps us fix bugs faster, tweak driving physics, test server load, and decide which areas of the map to detail next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to be in Early Access for roughly 2 to 3 years. Populating a 1:1 scale region with detailed towns, new vehicle classes, and deeper MMO systems takes time, and we want to build it properly before calling it 1.0.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will expand on the current foundation with more vehicle types, structured gameplay, and much higher visual detail across the map:
- More Vehicles (Planes & Boats): Right now, you can explore by car or on foot. For the full version, we plan to add aircraft to fly over the Alps, boats for the lakes, and a larger roster of cars.
- Fleshed-out Quests & Racing: We plan to expand the arcade racing side with structured race events, time trials, delivery jobs, and a clear progression system.
- Deeper MMO Features: Building on our current multiplayer setup, we want to add organized group events, leaderboards, and more ways for players to interact in the open world.
- Visual World Upgrades: While the entire 7,400 km² terrain is already playable, many areas currently use basic procedural placeholders. Moving toward 1.0, we will continuously replace these with custom 3D buildings, local landmarks, better vegetation, and ambient traffic.
- Companion App Improvements: Adding profiles for more fitness hardware and better in-game workout data.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Here is what is already implemented and playable in the current Early Access build:
- Full 7,400 km² Map Unlocked: The entire region of South Tyrol is in the game and open for exploration. (Note: Many towns and buildings are currently basic visual placeholders that we are updating step by step).
- Driving & Walking (1st & 3rd Person): You can drive across the road network using our arcade car physics or explore on foot, switching freely between first-person and third-person cameras.
- Working Multiplayer & Steam Auth: Multiplayer is active and tested. Players can join the same world and interact. Logins are managed through our Development Forum, which includes direct Steam Sign-In.
- Functional Companion App: You can already connect bicycles, smart trainers, and treadmills (including non-native equipment) via our Companion App to control your character in-game.
- Initial Quests: Basic quests and open-world free roaming are available right now.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The game is priced lower during Early Access to reflect its current development stage. As we add major content like planes, boats, and detailed regions, the price will increase toward the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Since players log in through our Development Forum (using their Steam account), everyone has direct access to our main feedback platform alongside the Steam Discussion boards.
Here is how the community shapes the game:
- Bug Reports & Hardware Requests: Players can report bugs or request Companion App support for specific treadmills, bikes, or trainers directly on the forum so we can prioritize fixes.
- Voting on Map & Vehicle Updates: With 7,400 km² to cover, community feedback helps us decide which mountain passes, towns, or landmarks get custom 3D buildings next, as well as which vehicles we should build first.
- Devlogs & Livestreams: We share our progress regularly through YouTube devlogs and live development streams on Twitch, where players can talk to us directly and give feedback on what we are currently building in Unreal Engine 5.”

About This Game

South Tyrol in 1:1 Scale

The idea behind DoloTwin is straightforward: we wanted to capture the driving feel of games like Forza Horizon or Test Drive Unlimited combined with the open-world sandbox freedom of Grand Theft Auto (GTA)—but set on a completely real map. Using real elevation and geographical data, we recreated the entire 7,400 km² region of South Tyrol (Northern Italy) at a 1:1 scale in Unreal Engine 5.

You can get behind the wheel and drive real mountain passes, step out of your car at any time to explore on foot, or hook up your home fitness gear via our Companion App to tackle the climbs physically.

Core Features

  • 7,400 km² Open World: The entire map of South Tyrol is open from day one. The terrain, valleys, and mountain ranges match the real-world geography.
  • First-Person & Third-Person Views: Switch freely between first-person and third-person perspectives at any time, both while driving and walking.
  • Arcade Driving & Free Roam: Built around accessible arcade driving physics. Take on quests, test your times on winding pass roads, or just drive and explore at your own pace.
  • MMO Multiplayer: Share the map with other players online. Meet up for group drives, interact in the open world, or compete in challenges. Logins are handled through our Development Forum, which supports direct Steam account sign-in.
  • Fitness Hardware Support (Companion App): Beyond standard controllers and keyboards, our Companion App lets you use real bicycles, smart trainers, and treadmills to move in-game. It is designed to work even with fitness equipment that doesn't natively support gaming.

Who We Are & What to Expect

We (Martin and Thomas) are a two-brother indie team from South Tyrol building DoloTwin out of passion. Because a 7,400 km² map is massive for two people, we follow a simple rule: "make it happen first, make it good later." The entire map, multiplayer servers, driving mechanics, and Companion App are up and running. Visually, many towns are still in a basic placeholder/blockout state and are being progressively updated with custom 3D buildings, new quests, and more vehicle types like planes and boats.
