What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We launch the game in Early Access to gather real player feedback on the AI-driven warlord strategy system, faction diplomacy mechanics and dynamic NPC decision logic. Player suggestions will help us balance gameplay, optimize AI response efficiency, adjust resource economy rules and polish battle & negotiation systems. Early Access allows us to iterate steadily while building a stable community that participates in game improvement together.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate the Early Access period will last 12 to 18 months. The exact timeline will depend on content development progress, community feedback optimization and feature completion quality.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the roster of Three Kingdoms historical generals, add more regional forces and unique faction traits. We intend to enrich diplomatic tactics, secret conspiracy mechanics, siege warfare systems and random historical events. We also plan to optimize AI operational efficiency, expand map scope, add more resource management rules and refine UI, audio and visual performance. Additional story branches and sandbox free-play modes are also under consideration based on community demand. We will adjust development priorities according to player feedback and cannot guarantee every planned feature will launch on a fixed schedule.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access build contains a complete core sandbox strategy loop. Players can command warlords, form alliances, launch wars, conduct trades and trigger AI-powered dynamic NPC interactions. Basic territory management, grain logistics and tactical battle systems are fully playable. The core AI faction decision system is functional, while partial balancing optimization, content expansion and detail polishing are still in progress. The game offers stable playable content for full campaign experience.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the game price as we roll out new gameplay content and core features throughout Early Access. Once the game officially launches out of Early Access with all planned core content finalized, we will adjust the pricing appropriately to correspond with the complete finished content scale of the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to gather community feedback through Steam discussion forums, official discussion threads and player review sections. Our development team intends to regularly review popular community suggestions related to gameplay balance, AI performance optimization and additional content expansion. We plan to share regular development progress updates, gather community input regarding faction balance, token consumption rules and AI interaction experience, and take valuable constructive feedback into account when arranging follow-up update directions.

About This Game

Three Kingdoms Strategy Simulator

An AI-powered historical strategy game where every NPC functions as an independent AI Agent. Powered by large language model computation, each character develops a unique mindset rooted in their historical identity and retains long-term persistent memory. Rival factions may forge alliances with you, only to betray and launch surprise attacks later. Dozens of regional lords scheme against one another, vying for dominion over the Central Plains.

As a time-traveler from the future, you can crush rivals with futuristic technological advantages, or secure victory through political marriages, defection bribery, and any stratagem you can conceive. You may also fill your harem and raise heirs to perpetuate your dynastic rule.

The game features a built-in AI credit system: you can spend in-game model points, or input your own personal API key to connect to local or cloud-hosted large models. You hold full control over which AI model to run—more powerful models deliver smarter NPC behavior, while baseline models support complete stable gameplay.

189 AD. You open your eyes, crowned a regional warlord.

Only yesterday you were scrolling through your phone on your commute; today you stand in a Han dynasty audience hall, facing rows of kneeling civil and military officials. Your granaries hold barely enough grain to sustain your troops, and hostile armies from neighboring principalities loom outside your borders, ready to strike at any moment.

No tutorial will guide your next move. For in this realm, your advisors are living, autonomous minds.

Yet you grasp one harsh truth: if you take no action, the coming century will witness one of the bloodiest upheavals in Chinese history. Corpses will litter the wilderness, and not a single chicken will crow across desolated miles. The national population will plummet from over 50 million to fewer than 10 million.

You are a visitor from two millennia ahead. You have studied this chapter of history, and you know how every tragedy unfolds.

That is precisely why you have been brought here.

We have built an unprecedented experiment: to grant genuine independent cognition to in-game characters.

This is no hollow "favorability +10" status feedback, nor rigid branching storytelling where picking Option A locks in Plot B. Over 1,374 historical figures—Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Zhuge Liang, Lü Bu, Sima Yi, to name a few—are driven by large language models, each endowed with distinct personalities, permanent memory, independent judgment, and dynamic emotion.

Every word you exchange with them will be permanently remembered.

Zhuge Liang, your chief strategist, will not remain unconditionally loyal merely because you are the protagonist. If you dismiss his counsel and suffer a crushing defeat, his tone and attitude will shift drastically in all future consultations. If you break a promise to Zhang Fei, he will never place full trust in you again. If you plot with Zhou Yu to divide Jing Province in secret, your private conversation may leak—and resurface as a fatal bargaining chip at the most critical hour.

Your adversaries scheme behind closed doors as well. Cao Cao and Sun Quan may secretly negotiate to partition Jing Province. Yuan Shao and Gongsun Yuan may fight to the last man on the battlefield. Your spies might intercept a confidential letter: Cao Cao pledges to cede the six Jiangdong commanderies to Sun Quan if he aids in the joint campaign.

Is this letter authentic military intelligence, or a trap deliberately planted to mislead you?

You can never be certain. In the Three Kingdoms era, no one deserves absolute trust.

The Arrogance and Consequences of a Time-Traveler

You come from a modern era. You know Cao Cao’s comeback victory against overwhelming odds at Guandu, you know the fire attack that turned the tide at Chibi, and you know Zhuge Liang’s peerless genius as a military advisor.

Yet your arrival has already fractured the original timeline of history.

You might claim, “Yuan Shao is doomed to defeat”—but in this altered timeline, Yuan Shao may have fortified his defenses preemptively after learning classified intel leaked from your prior careless remarks. Are you inadvertently aiding Cao Cao, or sealing his doom?

You understand the destructive potential of fire tactics, but do you possess the technical know-how to execute a fire attack under the technological constraints of 189 AD? Every recommendation you make, every strategy you adopt, is a high-stakes gamble. A well-grounded proposal will earn you renown as a prophetic sage; reckless armchair theorizing will brand you as a delusional madman.

Every triumph and blunder you commit will be etched into the long-term memory of every character in the realm.

A Boundless Open World

This is not a linear loop of unlocking tech trees, recruiting troops, and conquering territories. You possess complete creative freedom to shape the world around you as you see fit.

Time-Traveler Custom Technology Tree

Tell your advisors, “I wish to research gunpowder,” and they will assess the plan’s feasibility based on Eastern Han-era practical conditions: how to purify saltpeter, where to source sulfur. The more detailed and scientifically sound your proposal, the higher the success rate. If your idea sounds absurd and irrational, they will pay lip service to your face yet privately deem you an incompetent tyrant. Your futuristic knowledge is your greatest competitive edge—and also a fatal flaw if you are labeled insane by your court.

Custom Troop Formations

Build upon baseline infantry, cavalry, and archer units to create faction-exclusive elite troops: heavy spear infantry, light cavalry scout corps, and even experimental futuristic tech units if you can justify their development. You name each unit and define its combat strengths and weaknesses entirely.

Dynamic Buildings & Supply Chains

You are not limited to constructing preset buildings such as farms and barracks. Design bespoke industrial logistics chains: dedicate one city to ceramic firing, another to iron smelting and forging, transport raw materials from resource hubs to production zones, and deliver finished arms and provisions to frontline garrisons. Build a self-sustaining ancient industrial logistics network from scratch.

Original Tactics & Battle Arts

Your generals can master traditional historical combat techniques, or learn brand-new custom tactics you describe in precise detail. If your tactical blueprint is clear and actionable, AI generals will interpret, train with, and deploy your original battle formations in combat.

Free-Form Diplomatic Treaties

You are not restricted to three rigid options: alliance, ceasefire, or declaration of war. Propose any binding diplomatic terms you can imagine: territorial cessions, war indemnities, political marriage alliances, technological sharing, non-aggression pacts, or pacts such as “aid my campaign against a rival, and I will grant you rule over the Jiangnan region.” The opposing faction’s acceptance or rejection hinges purely on calculated self-interest and accumulated trust levels.

There is no mandatory main storyline, no fixed win condition. Strive to unify the whole realm, survive peacefully as a regional neutral power, or act as a manipulative power broker to plunge the land into deeper chaos—your goals are entirely self-determined. The 41 rival factions will not wait for your pace: behind your field of vision, they continuously form coalitions, betray allies, annex small states, and collapse under conquest.

Native AI Integration, No Vendor Lock-In

We never force mandatory paid subscriptions to proprietary AI models.

All game data, configurations, dialogue logs, and save files are stored locally in open, editable formats. You may freely modify your default API key, adjust starting faction resources, add custom historical generals, and rewrite core game rules—you hold full ownership and transparency over your game data.

This game is for you if:

  • You have ever wondered what you would accomplish if transported back to the Three Kingdoms era

  • You are frustrated with linear choice-based storytelling limited to binary A/B selections

  • You enjoy conversing with dynamic AI and embrace the suspense of unpredictable NPC reactions

  • You value political intrigue and strategic maneuvering over brute-force military conquest

This game is NOT for you if:

  • You require clear quest markers and a predefined linear completion route

  • You dislike reading large volumes of immersive character dialogue

  • You seek gacha character collection, card battling, or casual romance simulation

  • You cannot tolerate unscripted, unexpected behavior from autonomous NPCs

189 AD. Chaos engulfs the realm, and civilians suffer endless torment.

As a modern reader reviewing history two millennia later, you can only mourn this tragedy from afar.

But today, you stand within this turbulent age, holding the chance to rewrite its fate.

The chaotic era will never end on its own.

It will only conclude if someone rises to bring peace to the broken realm.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The core gameplay of this game adopts an independent AI warlord confrontation system. All Three Kingdoms generals and regional lord NPCs make autonomous decisions on their own, and can independently launch alliances, declarations of war, diplomatic negotiations, grain supply trades, secret betrayals and other political strategic behaviors. In-game plot dialogues and interactions among warlords are dynamically generated by AI. A built-in content safety filter is activated throughout the game to prevent the generation of illegal, violent and inappropriate content.
