What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We have chosen Early Access because Reforge Eden: Overlord is a large-scale open-world RTS/RPG developed by a small team. The game combines real-time combat, army command, city building, population and professions, exploration, technological development, and a world that blends medieval fantasy with steampunk.

We want players to become part of the development process while the game is being built. Early Access allows us to gather feedback from real players on combat, economy, city building, army management, game pacing, and the overall experience, and use that feedback to improve and refine the game.

At the same time, we want players to experience the core of the game early and gradually witness the world, systems, and content grow throughout development.

The Early Access version is not intended to be a simple technical demo. It is designed to be a playable foundation that can be enjoyed on its own, while providing room for us to expand and refine the game over time.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The official version will be released in about a year, but the game will continue to be updated for many years”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version will focus on establishing the game's core gameplay and fundamental systems. As development continues, we plan to gradually expand the scale and depth of the game.

Our current development direction includes:

* More depth and variety in real-time combat, hero abilities, and army command
* More units, buildings, enemies, and recruitable races
* More comprehensive city building, population, professions, and production systems
* Deeper technology, economy, and resource systems
* More areas to explore, dungeons, world events, and factions
* Industrial, alchemical, and magical systems inspired by the game's medieval fantasy and steampunk setting
* A larger world and a more complete kingdom-building experience
* Continued improvements to UI, AI, animation, performance, and game balance
* More complete late-game content and long-term progression

Our goal is to build a complete gameplay loop in which players can:

Explore the world → develop their cities → manage population and production → build and command armies → fight wars and explore dangerous places → acquire new resources and technologies → further develop their kingdom.

These represent our current development direction rather than absolute promises about future content. Specific features and content may change based on development progress and player feedback.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the core gameplay and foundational systems of the game.

Players can explore an open medieval fantasy world, engage in real-time combat, command their forces, and gradually grow their power through combat and exploration.

The current version focuses primarily on core combat, hero abilities, army management, basic construction, and exploration. Some of the deeper systems, including population and professions, technology, races, industry, magic, and larger-scale world content, are still being developed and refined.

We want Early Access players to experience the core gameplay loop while also having the opportunity to see the scale and depth of the game expand through future updates.

As the game is still in development, some content, balance, systems, and visual elements may change significantly during Early Access.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to adjust the game's price gradually as its content, systems, and overall level of completion grow.

Players who join during the earlier stages of Early Access will be able to purchase the game at a lower price and participate in its development. As significant new content and features are added, we may increase the price accordingly.

Any price changes will depend on the progress of development and the amount of new content added. We will communicate planned price changes in advance through the Steam store page and update announcements.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want players to be part of the development process.

We plan to gather feedback through the Steam Community Hub, player discussions, feedback channels, update announcements, and other community platforms. We will pay particular attention to feedback on combat, army management, city building, economy, AI, game pacing, and the overall player experience.

Player feedback will help us adjust and balance existing systems, as well as evaluate ideas for future content and features.

We also plan to communicate the game's development through development updates and detailed patch notes, giving players insight into what is being developed, what is being changed, and why certain changes are being made.

Community feedback will be an important part of our development process, but not every suggestion will necessarily be implemented. Final decisions will be based on the game's overall design goals, technical feasibility, and available development resources.

About This Game

Defy the gods and rebuild Eden in a shattered world.

Train your armies in squad-based formations, forge them through battle, and pursue legendary achievements to attain immortality.

Build your kingdom around specialized districts: Industry, Academy, Agriculture, Commerce, Military, Residential, Administration, Religion, and more.

Educate your citizens — every workshop requires specialized talent, from farmers and craftsmen to wonder engineers.

Accept the races you admire into your kingdom: Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Beastfolk, Undead, Magical Beasts, and more — and decide how they will be treated: coexistence, colonization, or enslavement.

Explore dungeons and ancient ruins — perhaps the Scepter of God lies hidden within them.

Political systems and policy cards — guide your nation with your own will and shape the world according to your ideals.

And do not forget to establish an elite royal guard, lest mysterious assassins from the desert strike while you collect taxes in distant towns.
