Hey future Game Breaker! It's me, the developer

The time has finally come to release the demo I've been working on for a while. This is my first game release, so I'm hoping it goes well. If you find something weird (that shouldn't be weird), please send feedback through the in-game forms or join the Discord.

The demo contains one biome and 140 relics. The full game will contain at least 4 biomes, more bosses and minibosses, and at least 100 more upgrades on top of that (but the creativity can't really be stopped, so it'll probably end up being more).

I hope you enjoy the game and the core concepts of counter, deflect, combo, and break the game. You're more than welcome to send suggestions and share the game with everyone you know.

Master of Chaos

Throw yourself into the chaos as your wizard of choice, where skillful execution makes you stronger. Battle hordes of enemies and epic bosses using crazy magical synergies, precise parries, and devastating counterattacks.

Chain your hits to build your combo meter boosting your damage, fire rate, movement speed, and cooldowns. The better you play, the stronger you become. But lose your rhythm and you're back to square one.

Every moment demands constant decision-making and strategic choices. Positioning, dodging, and timing your attacks. Should you fire now, or hold your attack a little longer for a more devastating strike? When the pressure becomes too much, unleash your ultimate attack of choice!

Fight, craft, do mini-quests, or go treasure hunting with your hookshot to find upgrades — but do it fast before the hordes become overwhelming!

Beat or Break the Game - You Win Either Way

Master of Chaos features a unique mechanic for the truly dedicated gamebreaker. Stack enough upgrades, chain enough kills, push your combo high enough and the game itself will start to buckle under the weight of your power. Shadows disappear, draw distances shrink, resolution crumbles, until there is nothing left. At that point, the game has no choice but to admit defeat and hand you the victory. Only a true Master of Chaos can achieve this. And that is probably not you.

Survive. Grow. Conquer.

You start with your chosen wizard, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Your goal is to reach the next level. To get there you need to find the portal guarded by the most powerful enemy on the level, the boss.

You can seek out the portal and start the boss fight at any time but be careful. If you are too weak you will get a serious beating. You need to get strong enough and collect upgrades first. But you cannot wait too long either. Enemies spawn in increasing numbers as time goes on. Wait too long and you might get completely overwhelmed.

The goal is to find upgrades across the level as fast as possible to grow strong quickly before the enemy pressure builds too much, while making sure you are strong enough to take on the boss fight!

Collect upgrades by activating boss runes and slaying minibosses for their loot, use your hookshot to reach hidden treasures, take on challenges from the mysterious statues scattered across the world, gather resources from crystals to craft your own upgrades, and even regular enemies can drop loot!

Counter. Deflect. Dominate

Enemies may see you as a cute little pushover they can easily squash but they have not accounted for the fact that this wizard is extremely fast and agile even without powerful upgrades.

Time your counter at the right moment and blink forward to unleash a counterattack that leaves the enemy stumbling, missing their strike and eating a powerful hit in return. Spot a projectile coming your way, time it right and send it flying back at the sender triggering an explosion. Land a counter or deflect and your cooldown resets instantly, letting you chain straight into your next counter or deflect. Every successful deflect and counter charges your ultimate attack to be ready even faster!

Counters and deflects are not just survival tools, they are a core part of your power progression. Upgrade them in the shop for permanent improvements. Land them consistently and you gain temporary stat boosts as well as small incremental upgrades that snowball massively by the end of your run. Master them and you become unstoppable.

Kill. Chain. Snowball.

Kill an enemy, you get a combo. Kill another before the timer runs out and you are at 2. Then 3. Then 4. At your 5th combo something happens! You get bonus stats! More damage and higher fire rate! At 10, even more! Now you are getting strong!

Chain your combos as high as you can but keep the momentum going. Wait too long and the timer depletes, your combo starts dropping and you need to kill something fast to stop the bleeding!

Damage and fire rate are just the beginning! Upgrade in the shop to unlock even more bonuses across all your stats, cooldowns, crit chance, movement speed and beyond. Collect the purple coins dropped by defeated enemies and spend them in the shop to grow your combos to astronomical levels!

Unleash Your Ultimate When It Matters Most

When combos, counters and upgrades are not enough or you need to clear the field before a bigger fight, unleash your ultimate.

Choose which ultimate to bring into each run before you start. Every ability has its own advantages. Big AoE with BigOne, multi target finishing power with Stargazer, single point devastation with Bulletstorm.

Try them all and find what fits your run best. Whatever you choose, you will feel like the most powerful being on the planet!

Forge Your Power

Random drops from the world will make you powerful but sometimes the tactical mind craves something specific. The solution is to forge your own upgrade of choice to complete the perfect build!

Gather resources from the crystals scattered across the world to have enough material to forge your favorite. But do not waste them! Sometimes the smartest play is to hold onto your resources until you see where your build is heading before you decide what to forge.

Loot, Find, Forge. Leave None Left to Tell the Tale.

Collect upgrades by taking on challenges, slaying enemies and taking their loot, using your hookshot to hunt down hidden treasures or forging them yourself. There are many upgrades that make you absurdly powerful, especially in combination with each other! Experiment and hunt for the perfect build!

Each run gives you a few rerolls if the loot gods are not in your favor but the number is limited so use them wisely! A true master can even upgrade the number of rerolls by collecting the coveted purple coins dropped by enemies you have sent back to whatever hell they came from.
