What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ ECHORIS is built around a unique loop — every weapon you find hides its own procedural world inside it. Tuning the depth, pacing, and reward of that loop benefits enormously from real player feedback, and Early Access lets us shape it alongside the community rather than guessing in isolation. We are a small team, and EA gives us the runway to expand the game steadily — adding new strata, weapons, and bosses — while staying honest about where the game is today.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for Early Access to last roughly 12 to 18 months. The final length will depend on how content rollouts, balance tuning, and the cooperative descent feature mature alongside community feedback. We would rather extend Early Access than ship the full version before the loop is satisfying for the long haul.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to include significantly more content depth and the full implementation of our cooperative descent feature. Specifically, we plan to expand the vertical megastructure with additional levels and biomes, ship more weapon families, Memory Strata, and bosses, deepen the chemical reaction and Temperament systems, add full localization for major languages, and finalize the cooperative Item World experience for 2 to 4 players. The Early Access build will focus on the single-player core loop while these systems mature.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build features the core single-player loop — vertical exploration through handcrafted and procedural corridors, the Item World loop for several weapon rarities, the Five Temperaments and chemical reaction systems, a growing roster of enemies and bosses, and Korean and English localization. Cooperative play is not yet implemented and is targeted for a later Early Access update. Tuning, art polish, and content depth are still in active development across the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content, additional Strata, more weapons, and the cooperative descent feature. Players who buy during Early Access will pay less than those who join after the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community through our Discord server and Steam Community discussions, where players can share build experiments, report issues, and shape the direction of upcoming Strata and weapons. Major content updates will include playtest windows for early feedback, and we plan to publish regular development notes outlining what we are working on, what we have changed, and what we have decided to cut. Since we are a small team, every player voice carries real weight.”

About This Game

Descend. Forge. Remember.

ECHORIS is a 2D side-scrolling metroidvania set deep within a vertical megastructure built by giants who no longer remember why. Drop level by level through forgotten corridors. Fight what was left behind. Reforge the weapons you find — until  the shaft itself bends to your will.

Explore the Shaft

The world is one vast vertical structure, half-built and half-ruined. Unlock relics that reshape how you move — dash through narrow gaps, walljump across fissures, breathe in poisoned water, slip through shadow. Every gate is locked behind a stat or an ability, and every path leads somewhere deeper.

Every Weapon Hides a World

Each blade carries a voice — the Ego of the soul who once wielded it. Step inside any weapon to enter its Item World. Descend the Memory Strata. Defeat the bosses that guard each layer. Reclaim  the Memory Shards they leave behind, slot them into your weapon's Identity, and listen as its voice grows clearer. Five Temperaments — Forge, Iron, Rust, Spark, Shadow — shape what kind of soul each blade becomes. No two weapons will ever grow the same way.

Worlds That React

Water flows. Oil spreads. Fire spreads further. Lightning leaps between conductors. Frost crawls  across pools. Every floor is a chemistry set, and every weapon is a way to disturb it. Throw a flask of oil into a torchlit corridor and watch it run. Slash a water-vase above an electrified pool. The room becomes a tactic.

Emergent Systems

  • Five elemental temperaments combine with terrain, fluids, and enemy weaknesses in ways the designer never scripted

  • Procedural dungeons stitched from handcrafted rooms, never the same twice

  • Item World runs reward both efficient builds and obsessive completionists

Descend Together (In Development)

The deeper Item Worlds were never meant to be faced alone. Cooperative descent is planned for a post-launch update — friends in the same blade, the same strata, the same fall.

Made For

  • Players who love interconnected, gate-locked 2D exploration

  • Loot hunters who chase endless depth and weapon mastery

  • Anyone drawn to vast vertical worlds and the silence left by lost civilizations

The shaft remembers you. Your weapons remember more.
