Every keystroke is a note. Every note hits on the beat. TYPE HYPE turns your keyboard into an instrument in this synthwave rhythm typing game set to a 59-track soundtrack.

• Rhythm gameplay meets touch typing — Notes fall down a highway toward a judgment line. Hit the right key at the right moment for PERFECT, GREAT, or GOOD timing grades.

• Set List modifiers — Stack up to 4 modifiers (Speed Surge, Mirror Run, Blackout, No Safety Net) for compounding score multipliers up to 2.24x. Replayability beyond the 69 levels.

How It Works

Notes fall down a vertical highway, each labeled with a letter. When a note reaches the judgment line at the bottom, press the matching key. Nail the timing for PERFECT hits, build combos to raise your score multiplier up to 4x, and earn 1-3 stars per level.

Training levels introduce keys progressively — starting with just F and J, then adding fingers one by one until you command the entire keyboard. Exhibition levels throw all 26 keys at you with painted themed backgrounds like Deep Space, Volcanic Forge, and Aurora Sky.

TYPE HYPE ships with 59 synthwave tracks organized into three playback contexts:

• Menu music — A dedicated chill track that loops on all menu screens

• Gameplay pool — 51 two-minute tracks that rotate through training and exhibition levels, shuffled each session

On top of the recorded tracks, a procedural synthwave engine generates layered music in real-time. It builds from a quiet pad intro to full kick/bass/snare/hi-hat/arpeggio/lead based on song structure sections and your combo multiplier. The music literally responds to how well you play.

TYPE HYPE's static visual assets — the main-menu skyline background, achievement icons (34 color + 34 grayscale variants = 68 PNGs), exhibition-level theme backgrounds (15 themes × 6 layer files = 90 PNGs), and Steam capsule backgrounds — were created with the assistance of generative AI image tools (primarily OpenAI's GPT image generation). All AI-generated assets were curated, selected, and approved by the developer. No AI runs at runtime in the shipped product. Music (59 tracks) is human-composed and sourced from Pixabay under the Pixabay Content License. Code was written collaboratively by the developer with an AI coding assistant. The game contains no AI-generated content shown to players during gameplay (procedural music layering is rule-based, not AI).
