What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Ocean Cargo Manager combines dynamic markets, global route planning, fleet management, operating costs, maintenance, and long-term business decisions. Early Access gives us the opportunity to balance these interconnected systems together with players and improve their clarity and usability. Community feedback will help us add depth without making the game unnecessarily difficult to understand.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Ocean Cargo Manager to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 to 18 months. This estimate may change depending on player feedback, development progress, and the scope of improvements made during Early Access. The quality and stability of the game will determine when it is ready for version 1.0.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to expand and further deepen the existing economic simulation. Areas currently under consideration include richer market dynamics, additional contracts and events, more interaction with ports and competing shipping companies, and further fleet-management options. The user interface will also continue to evolve visually during Early Access to present information more clearly, make workflows more intuitive, and create a more polished overall experience. The exact scope will evolve during development, and not every idea currently being considered can be guaranteed.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version contains a playable single-player core. Players can establish their own shipping company, purchase and manage cargo vessels, trade 36 commodities between 124 ports, plan global routes, monitor their finances, and maintain or repair their fleet. Four ship classes are currently available. Save games and user interfaces in German, English, and Spanish are supported. The user interface is functional, but its visual design and usability will continue to improve during Early Access. Balancing, graphics, and individual gameplay systems may also change during development. Players may still encounter bugs or incomplete areas.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently expect the price to increase when Ocean Cargo Manager leaves Early Access, reflecting the additional content, improvements, and greater level of polish added during development. Any planned price changes will be announced in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to collect feedback through the Steam Community Hub, structured player surveys, and regular development updates. Bug reports, balancing observations, usability issues, and suggestions concerning the economic simulation will be evaluated according to their frequency and impact. Important changes and development progress will be communicated through regular update notes and development posts.”

About This Game

Build your own shipping company and guide it through ports, markets, canals, and tough economic decisions.

Ocean Cargo Manager is a maritime business simulation about cargo ships, commodity trading, and route planning. Buy ships, compare prices, plan voyages between international ports, and try to turn every trip into a profit.

Every decision has economic consequences. A large ship offers high cargo capacity, but it also comes with higher costs and cannot access every port. A short route is not always the most profitable one. A cheap commodity is only worth buying if the destination market is right and the costs do not eat up your profit.

Your ships have individual technical values such as year of construction, length, beam, draft, speed, fuel consumption, cargo capacity, condition, and price. Port levels, canal limits, and ship dimensions determine which routes are possible and which plans actually make sense.

Commodity trading is inspired by real-world trade structures. Ports, countries, and continents have different economic profiles that aim to represent typical imports and exports, regional strengths, and price differences as plausibly as possible. This creates trade opportunities that do not feel random, but emerge from the role of each port and its region.

An oil port, a container hub, a raw material exporter, or an important industrial location should all feel different in the game. Ocean Cargo Manager does not try to recreate the global economy with complete accuracy, but it does aim to make markets, commodities, and port profiles feel understandable and believable. If you use your fleet wisely, observe markets, and keep costs under control, you can gradually expand your shipping company.
