Why Early Access?

“The Ashen Heir is a story-driven kingdom management game built around difficult two-choice decisions, visible kingdom stats, and long-term consequences.

We are releasing in Early Access because player feedback is very important for this type of game. The core systems are playable, but we want to improve the pacing, balance, event variety, endings, user interface, and overall presentation with feedback from real players before the full release.

Early Access will help us understand which decisions feel meaningful, which story branches need more weight, and how clearly players understand the consequences of their choices.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect The Ashen Heir to remain in Early Access for approximately 3 to 6 months.

This may change depending on player feedback, the amount of additional story content we decide to add, and the time needed to polish the user interface, balancing, endings, and presentation.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to include more story events, more branching outcomes, additional endings, improved balancing for kingdom stats, more polished UI feedback, better event presentation, and additional visual/audio polish.

We also plan to expand the consequences of major decisions so that choices can affect later events in clearer and more meaningful ways. Based on player feedback, we may adjust the difficulty, pacing, text clarity, and the way long-term consequences are communicated to the player.

The goal for the full version is to deliver a more complete and polished political fantasy story experience with stronger replay value.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version includes the core playable experience of The Ashen Heir.

Players can make story decisions, manage the main kingdom stats, continue through a playable portion of the campaign, and experience consequences based on their choices. The main gameplay loop is already implemented: read the event, choose between two options, affect the kingdom, and continue the story.

The game is playable, but it is still being improved. Some areas may need additional balancing, more story variation, UI polish, text refinement, and expanded late-game consequences.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We may increase the price when the game leaves Early Access, depending on how much additional content and polish is added.

Early Access players will receive all updates during Early Access. We want the Early Access price to reflect the current amount of content while still rewarding early supporters who help shape the final version of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use Steam Community discussions, reviews, and player feedback to improve the game during Early Access.

We are especially interested in feedback about story pacing, decision clarity, balancing of the kingdom stats, UI readability, difficulty, endings, and replay value. Player feedback may influence event balancing, text revisions, new story events, and quality-of-life improvements before the full release.”
