What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This game would not exist without Early Access. The initial Sniper game was popular enough to enable our small team to explore a complete Multiplayer rebuild, which is finally going live!

It took much longer than we'd hoped, but the Ctrl Alt Delete update brings over a year worth of new features, new maps, new classes, and obviously the chance to play with/against your friends.

We will be sharing our to-do list with the community, which includes plenty of bug fixes, but mostly a pile of new features, classes, weapons and more. There are plans for co-op single player maps, but they are way down the list.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The December Ctrl Alt Delete update finally puts us back on a predictable schedule after going dark for the multiplayer rebuild. Currently there are 6-12 months worth of features on our to-do list, but we definitely plan to come out of Early Access in 2018.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have at least 2 additional classes that players can choose from, as well as new maps, both for team play and for class-specific game modes. The game will be primarily multiplayer, and any single-player content will be designed with co-op in mind.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The multiplayer update was a complete rebuild, and we expect to need a good amount of bug fixes, balance tweaks and UX improvements. That said, we have been tweaking and polishing for a few months, and have a compelling PvP experience that should appeal to a wide range of VR players.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We have increased the price in tandem with the major multiplayer update, and only plan on raising it one more time when leaving Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The multiplayer version can use every bit of testing feedback we can get, to try and be as accessible and fun as possible. A Discord channel is set up where you can chat directly with the developers.

February 1

The Nest is now completely free, forever.

It is with a mix of pride and sadness that I announce we are making The Nest free for all, forever.

We had high hopes for this game, and in 2016 after an unexpectedly successful launch, we tried to remake the small demo game into something more massive, and more epic than we were ultimately able to pull off.

The Multiplayer which we came to love...could not keep concurrent players, so most people never got to play the game that we saw in testing. With unflinching determination, Victor kept improving the Multiplayer, added an entire Co-Op Campaign, and even started remaking single-player levels.

With the game going free, our hope is that enough people will try it out that they can experience the game the way it was intended. You will find bugs, and if you try the Co-Op campaign you'll find a number of mechanics like healing players with a blow-torch, riding in vehicles that might make you sick, and the vestiges of a number of incomplete features.

The Multiplayer PvP mode is what should provide the most fun. Gather 4-6 players, try out the two different classes, and just go nuts.

The final announcement is that Victor has moved on to a truly epic new job, but that means the chances of updates and patches are near zero. He will still be on Discord, and we'll all jump in to play from time to time, but there's nobody left to continue the game, so The Nest has reached its final form.

Cheers.

“After playing for a while, I was fully immersed and quite frankly forgot that I wasn’t actually inside of a sniper nest.”

About This Game

It has been hundreds of years since the machines ironically wiped out mankind.

After seemingly endless competition, the two dominant operating systems formed "The Agreement" to share the colonized planets equally. Unfortunately, the once plentiful "crypto" mines have begun to dry up, and so fighting over this critical resource has resumed.

Multiplayer VR action comes to The Nest with the "Ctrl Alt Delete" update. Teams of up to three players will fight over Ctrl points, or six players can farm each other in the free-for-all "Delete" game mode.

Pick your OS!

Join the enigmatic Angroid or the treacherous DieOS and battle for dominance.

Multiple classes!

Choose to play as the powerful "Sniper" class, moving from nest to nest with a grappling hook, teleport grenades, and a variable zoom scope.

OR

Play the advanced "Slinger" class, a dual-wielding pistoleer that can move effortlessly in 3 dimensions thanks to their patented Slinger grapple-pistols.

Multiple game modes!

The Ctrl Alt Delete update introduces the first two game modes, "Ctrl" - where teams up 3 fight over control points, and "Delete" - a Free-For-All death match.
Stay tuned for the "Alt" game mode, an alternating offense defense map.

The single-player experience will return with more content, but all efforts are focused on multiplayer balance and polish. Stay tuned!
