Cold Spring – Liminal Space is a 2D psychological horror survival game with procedurally generated maps. You play as an ordinary urban woman who, late at night, accidentally falls from her apartment hallway into an endlessly looping liminal space. No weapons. No allies. Only ever‑reorganizing corridors, wandering eerie entities, and an ice axe in your hand.

Core Gameplay

  • Procedurally generated maps – The apartment’s floor structure is rearranged with every new attempt. No two explorations are the same.

  • Environmental modification – Use your ice axe to break through walls, turning dead ends into passages. The map and minimap update in real time.

【Breaking through walls】

  • Audio threat detection – Judge the distance of invisible entities by the attenuation of their footsteps. Decide whether to hide or flee in the dark.

【Attacked by an anomaly】

  • Sanity management – Sanity continuously decreases due to terrifying events and darkness. Light sources (e.g., your flashlight) slowly restore sanity. When sanity reaches zero, you gradually break down, and your health will keep dropping until game over.

  • Health recovery – No health supplies exist inside the liminal space. You cannot heal after being injured. The only way to slowly recover health is to escape back to the real apartment – “Homecoming Respite” is your sole anchor of survival.

  • Multi‑path narrative – Key obstacles have multiple solutions (e.g., an iron door can be opened in different ways). Your choices affect anomaly distribution and exploration routes in later areas, encouraging varied replays.

Story & Worldview

A mysterious “404 Forum” appears on your apartment computer. Inside, a group of people trapped in the same looping space have left behind fragmented posts and cryptic clues. By reading their messages and observing environmental details, you piece together the truth behind this space.

Source of Horror

Psychological horror at its core – fear arises from the abnormality of everyday objects. No gore. No jump scares.

Content Notes

  • Demo – Includes content from the prologue to Chapter 2. Average playtime: 30–90 minutes.

  • Full version – Expected to contain 6–8 main story chapters. Main story length: about 3–5 hours. Full exploration and multiple replays can extend gameplay to 8+ hours. Every new run brings a completely fresh spatial structure and anomaly distribution.

  • Single‑player only – No multiplayer mode is planned.

An ordinary urban daily life collapses the moment you push open your own apartment door.

You are a regular office worker in the city. Late at night, as you step into the apartment hallway, you accidentally fall into an infinitely looping liminal space. The familiar residential corridor turns into an endless, ever‑reorganizing eerie maze. Each time you go up or down a floor, the spatial layout changes subtly – a path you just walked on becomes strange and gloomy in the next second.

In this space tainted by a strange substance, nameless eerie entities wander, and silent phantoms linger.

The mysterious “404 Forum” on your apartment computer hides a group of strangers just as trapped as you are. They left behind broken records, hidden clues, and the truth about sinking and being lost.

Are you trapped in the hallway?
Or have you already been swallowed forever by this liminal space?
