What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“To get feedback as we develop our game on the story and playability, find bugs and involve the community in some elements of the development process (mostly around in game collectibles and music)
Also, we wanted to provide great deals to people who wish to support our journey early.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to exit early access in 6 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to offer seven more chapters/dungeons upon full release (dungeons are explained in the current state and the About section), and as we progress through early access we will release these chapters in groups of three, with the final chapter and a full polish pass coming in the full release.

In addition to this, we plan to provide more characters you'll encounter during the additional chapters, more unlocks for your room and tavern, more achievements, and we have a planned revisit to the visual side of the custom dish system.

The story is currently about 30% complete - with the full release we plan to finish the story and offer four unique endings, along with unique sub-ending's for some of the characters in the game.

Content wise we do plan to have another full polish pass overall in the final version of the game, along with more characters, more days, more dungeons, and likely (though this is heavily based on feedback and testing) more ingredients and dishes.

Overall the game and story are about 30% complete - and with the full release, we plan to finish the story and have 10 playable dungeons.

In short:
The core gameplay loop is already complete and the story is about 1/4th done - which you are getting with your current purchase. For the full game, we plan to have more polish, more content to play through, more characters to see, more dishes to cook, more collectibles, and more minigames to challenge you!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Chapter progress:
The game is broken up into four-day sections called "dungeons." Each dungeon is a stop along the Wandering Wyrm's path, and currently, about 30% of these are fully playable. This means you will be able to play through twelve in game days, plus two minigames and our first major story-beat cutscene. Every four days is referred to as a "dungeon." (This means that currently dungeons 1-3 are available for play, or days 1-12)
Overall, we are 30% of the way through the story in this version.

Cooking System:
We also have implemented 30+ ingredients and 30+ dishes you can cook, along with a custom cooking system that allows you to combine ingredients however you want to in order to create custom dishes. All that is left for the first 11 days (or three dungeons) is to polish it up and address feedback after we get some proper testing.
Overall, the Cooking system and drinks system is mostly complete.

NPCs:
You can expect a variety of characters you'll encounter each day, and a fully fleshed out rating system and dialogue system that allows these NPC's to rate your dishes, drinks offered, and in turn, effect how much they pay you, how they speak to you, and your trust rating. Currently in game: Yeti, Merlin, Eve, Cayanne, Caine, Doug, Sally, Terri, Pierre, Stephan, the Grocer - and a few more we shouldn't give away quite yet :)
Overall, the core NPC system and interactions are mostly implemented, but you can expect more characters and polish to existing ones as we approach a full release.

Collectibles:
We also have a number of achievements, a number of unlockable furniture for your house, and 10+ unlockable songs for the tavern. Currently the bedroom is the only place you can customize the look of by unlocking furniture.
The collectible system is partially implemented overall, with more features to be announced.

In short:
The core gameplay loop - including dialogue, grocery management, cooking, serving, music selection, and collectibles - is already complete. Additionally, the story is about 3/10ths done.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes.

Right now we plan to release at a very low price to encourage testing and feedback.

We will gradually increase this price as more content becomes available and we approach a full release/exit from early access. After exiting early access we will have a final price that won't change.

We always plan to have a very reasonable price for the game and the price will never increase drastically between content changes.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community in a number of ways, namely:

- Feedback on the core systems will directly influence gameplay and changes to it.
- We hope to involve the community through votes on a number of room visual additions and music choices for the tavern.
- The community will indirectly influence how the story progresses, based on feedback and in general, I assume we will take some inspiration as you experience it and speculate. Though, we plan to have the final say on all endings and subendings as the development team. This may involve votes on characters or certain things you would like to see available.

Our main goal with community involvement is to get your help in finding bugs or game-breaking issues. Please post in the discussion board if you find anything!

Please contact us directly with feedback, either through a Steam review, or, you can email us at our support email using the in-library Support tab.”

About This Game

Hiya, Yeti here. Look, I need some help around the Tavern, you think you could pick up a shift or two? You got this quality about you that I'm desperately lacking around here... Thumbs! Thumbs and Motivation!

Now the idea for the bar is something only a true genius could have thought up. There's never any good food around for adventures after a mission, and they're always hungry after a good fight. That's where we swoop in. I made a deal with a dragon and now we have a tavern on his back! (We feed him some of the tavern revenue).

We fly from dungeon to dungeon serving starving adventures before and after their missions.

You'll have to make dishes in the kitchen, remember peoples favorite drinks, and of course be a stand in therapist for when a barbarian breaks his favorite axe in battle.

Listen, the drinks you serve, and the food you prepare has a real effect on people ok?

A nutritious meal the night before a brawl could be the difference between slaying a slime, or ending up on a kobolds Pike. Not to mention the monsters have been running more and more rampant recently!

It's up to us to make sure our Heroes are in peak form!

Think you can handle our crazy clientele? Come test your culinary chops at The Wandering Wyrm!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Hi! It's Noah, Lead Developer of the wandering wyrm.

Now that you've met yeti, I wanted to talk about the games roadmap.

Right now, what will be available is chapters 1-3 (dungeons 1-3) of the game - with mostly completed content. I won't reveal too much of what we have planned, but expect more unique characters, more choices, more story to come. Wandering Wyrm is planned to have 10 story chapters with roughly 4 different endings and a number of "sub-endings" (character specific endings)

While the art is mostly generative ai, the code and writing are less than 5% generative ai. - We have handcrafted this universe and it all started from a small idea - could a dragon carry a bar? (Honestly I got the idea from 7 deadly sins and the boar's hat!.)

Pricing will go as follows - and we plan to increase the price as more content becomes available - so buy now!

$1 if you purchase now (while only 1-3 is available)

$2.99 purchase on the next major release (1-6 available)

$3.99 - Price for dungeons (1-9)

$4.99 - Full release price (for beta)

$5.99 - Full release after exiting beta

Wandering Wyrm has been a labor of love that has been developed off and on for about a year now. The team at critical sprite games wanted to say - Thank you, and good luck on your first shift!

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:
