What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Throughout development, much thought and consideration was put into determining what topics to include, in what order, and what exercises to implement. Now, it's time to put it up to the test to hear from learners.

Although the course may not be fully complete in this early release state, the current version contains many completed lessons. Learners may choose to begin with the available lessons now, and continue at a later date when the next lessons are to be released. This option may be especially valuable to those starting their high-school or university computer science education in September, who would benefit from this early release.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“It is expected that the full version will be ready for release October 2026, containing all intended content and exercises. However, it's certainly possible that development will take longer. Development may be extended to implement features that are suggested by the users.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full versions intends to implement the course in its entirety, adding what is likely to be 8 lessons.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This course currently offers 17 out of about 25 intended lessons. Additional tools to aid learning are also available. However, lessons are well on the way and will be released soon.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, a moderate price increase will likely be implemented upon full release. As the course is not yet fully delivered, we cannot justify charging the price intended upon completion for this early version. When the course is completed, the price is likely to change in hopes of funding future projects, including a potential complementary course to Computer Revolution.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As the goal is to provide the best educational experience possible, customer feedback will be of utmost importance. An understanding of what learners had trouble with, what they enjoyed, and what additional features they may want included in future versions is extremely valuable. No one understands the learning process as well as those currently learning, and this is why we'd love the community to be as involved as possible in these early stages. Community feedback in this regard will be strongly considered and very much appreciated.”

About This Software

Nothing in a computer is magic. Build one and see.

Computer Revolution is an educational course aimed at providing an optimal introduction to the field of computer science from first principles, with no prerequisites needed.

Learners start with the field's foundational ideas: the binary number system, Boolean logic, and more. These ideas can then be applied throughout the course to build and program a simple computer system.

Features:

The course allows users to build a foundational understanding of computer science from the ground-up in a linear progression. Lessons build upon each other in modular steps, each lesson being a simple extension of the prior. Together, the lessons present topics in a linear, intuitive order, allowing for a seamless introduction to the field.

Each lesson includes:

  • A storyline. Intended to lay out the need for developments in the field in the form of a problem needing to be solved.

  • A video lesson. Presenting the relevant information in a concise ~ten-minute video.

  • Exercises. Employing hands-on problem solving to create a deep understanding.

Also included:

  • A glossary of every term the course introduces

  • Boolean diagrams for practicing Boolean Logic

  • Diagrams of every version of the computer system

  • Programming problems you solve on the machine you built

12+ hours of content. Currently in Early Access - all released lessons are available now, with more arriving before full release.
