What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Infernal Foundations is built around interconnected systems such as block-by-block construction, resource production, worker task management, pathfinding, and settlement progression. Early Access will allow us to develop and refine these systems alongside the community.

Player feedback will be especially valuable for improving worker behavior, construction usability, progression, balancing, and identifying which features and content should receive the most attention.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 to 18 months. This estimate may change depending on player feedback, development progress, and the scope of features added during Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to offer a larger and more polished building and management experience.

Planned development areas include additional structures and building pieces, expanded resource and production chains, more worker roles and equipment, new environments, additional threats and defensive options, deeper settlement progression, and greater gameplay variety.

We also intend to improve worker behaviour, balancing, performance, tutorials, user interface, accessibility, and quality-of-life features throughout Early Access. The exact scope and order of these additions may evolve based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version provides the core gameplay experience. Players can gather resources, assign tasks to Imp workers, construct their settlement block by block, place functional structures, and establish basic production chains.

The main systems are playable, but the amount of content, progression, balancing, worker behavior, interface polish, and overall variety are still being developed. Players should expect occasional bugs, balance changes, and systems that may be adjusted or expanded during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer Infernal Foundations at a lower price during the earlier stages of Early Access. The price may gradually increase as substantial new content and features are added, with another possible increase when the game reaches its full release.

Any planned price changes will be communicated to the community in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to actively follow feedback, suggestions, bug reports, and gameplay discussions through the Steam Community and our other community channels.

Player feedback will help us evaluate worker behavior, construction controls, progression, resource balancing, user interface, performance, and new content priorities. We also plan to share development updates, discuss upcoming changes, and use community playtesting to identify problems that are difficult to uncover internally.”

About This Game

HELL IS RUNNING OUT OF ROOM.

There is only one sensible solution: expand.

Command a growing workforce of mischievous imps and establish Hell’s newest stronghold in the world above. Dig into a fully editable voxel landscape, harvest its resources, construct fortifications one block at a time, and transform an untouched wilderness into a thriving infernal domain.

Your imps will do all the hard work. Probably.

BUILD HELL, ONE BLOCK AT A TIME

You are not placing finished castles from a menu. Walls, towers, workshops and defensive positions must be designed and assembled from individual building blocks.

Plan the foundations, choose the shape and determine how your settlement grows. Build practical fortifications, sprawling industrial compounds or an unnecessarily enormous monument to infernal ambition. If you can supply the materials and your imps can reach it, you can build it.

RESHAPE THE WORLD

The landscape is part of your construction plan.

Excavate hills, flatten building sites, carve paths through the terrain and create the foundations your stronghold needs. Every project begins by deciding whether you should build around the land, or order your imps to tear straight through it.

PUT EVERY RESOURCE TO WORK

Resources in Infernal Foundations physically exist in the world. Trees become logs, logs become planks, ore becomes metal and every piece must be gathered, transported, stored and processed.

Organize stockpiles, assign haulers and connect specialized structures into efficient production chains. Watch materials travel through your settlement as raw resources are turned into the building blocks, tools and equipment needed for Hell’s expansion.

A badly designed settlement wastes time. A well-designed one runs like a delightfully cursed machine.

COMMAND YOUR IMP WORKFORCE

Your imps are the hands, feet and questionable brains behind the entire operation.

Assign them to gather resources, haul materials, operate production buildings and construct your designs. Clear routes and sensible stockpile placement will help them work efficiently. Terrible planning will produce long walks, unfinished walls and an impressive amount of pointless running around.

As your domain grows, your humble workers can also be equipped for specialized roles. Give them weapons, shields, helmets or bows and turn the workforce that built your stronghold into the army that protects it.

DEFEND HELL’S NEWEST TERRITORY

The forces of mankind are not particularly enthusiastic about their new infernal neighbors.

Prepare your settlement for attacks from human knights, archers and other irritating champions of righteousness. Build walls that control their approach, protect vital production areas and arm your imps before the enemy reaches the heart of your domain.

Every battlement was built from resources your workers harvested. Every weapon came from an industry you created. When the humans arrive, the survival of your stronghold depends on the world you constructed before them.

DIG DEEP. BUILD HIGH. KEEP THE HUMANS OUT.

Create a working infernal economy, watch your imps bring every construction to life and expand Hell one carefully placed block at a time.

After all, Hell is not going to build itself.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Infernal Foundations contains stylized cartoon/fantasy violence, dark humor, demonic characters, and supernatural imagery.

Players direct Imp workers to gather resources and establish a demonic settlement in the human world. The game may include melee and ranged attacks, environmental hazards, and non-graphic character defeat. Violence is exaggerated, cartoon-like, and not intended to be realistic.

The game does not contain sexual content, nudity, sexual violence, self-harm, or real-world extremist content.
