What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Desert Echo is developed by a solo developer. Early Access lets me involve players early, gather feedback on balance, difficulty and content, and shape the game's direction based on real player experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect Early Access to last around 6–12 months, depending on community feedback and development progress. I'd rather take a bit longer than release an unfinished game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will add a story campaign with a new map for each chapter, where your items and progress carry over between chapters. It will also bring additional enemy types, mobile turrets, allied drones, NPCs with their own activities and reactions, more weapons, and co-op multiplayer improvements. Balance, performance and overall polish will improve throughout Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is a fully playable horde defense experience: survive up to 500 increasingly difficult waves with a boss every 5th wave, fighting 8 enemy types (including flying and ranged enemies). You can use 9 weapons (5 firearms and 4 melee weapons) and build and upgrade 10 turret types: Gun, Minigun, Scatter, Sniper, Cannon, Mortar, Rocket, Flamer, Cryo and Tesla. The game includes an economy system, NPC vendors, dynamic weather, a tutorial, 4 difficulty levels (Easy to Insane) and online co-op for up to 4 players via Steam. The Early Access version currently includes one battle map, Home Camp. A full run on Medium takes around 4 hours, and the game is built for replayability across difficulties, turret builds and co-op. As with any Early Access game, you may encounter bugs and balance issues. I'm actively fixing them.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase as major content such as new maps and the story campaign is added. Buying during Early Access gets you the game at its lowest price, plus every future update at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I read the Steam discussions daily, and there is also a dedicated feedback website where you can report bugs and suggest features: desertecho.games. Player feedback on balance, difficulty and content directly shapes update priorities. I'll share a public roadmap, post regular dev updates and release patches on a regular basis.”

About This Game

You are not human. You never were.

Echo is an artificial consciousness — endlessly recurring, endlessly rebuilt. When your chassis falls, the Core resurrects you. When the Core falls, there is nothing left to come back to.

THE ECHO CORE

The Echo Core is everything. It stabilizes the Dimensional Rifts tearing reality apart. It anchors your existence. Destroy it, and the rifts consume what remains. Protect it — or stop existing.

DIMENSIONAL DRIFT

A giant sphere floats above the desert floor, dragging a portal into existence. A purple light descends — slowly, inevitably. Watch the timer. When the light hits the sphere, the vortex opens and they pour through. You cannot stop it. You can only be ready.

WHAT IS DESERT ECHO?

Desert Echo is a sci-fi horde defense game built around endless wave survival, tactical turret deployment, and cooperative chaos. Hold the line. Spend wisely. Don't let them through.

FEATURES

  • Endless Wave Survival - Face relentless enemy swarms that grow in scale and aggression with every wave. No checkpoints. No mercy.

  • First & Third Person – Switch perspective at any time. Line up precise shots in first person, or pull back to third when the swarm closes in from every side.

  • Hundreds of Enemies On Screen - Powered by a high-performance swarm system, the battlefield floods with hundreds of enemies simultaneously without compromise.

  • Turret Building, Gas Barrels & Economy - Deploy static turrets, position explosive gas barrels, and spend your Energy Fragments wisely. Every placement is a decision. Every barrel is a trap waiting to happen.

  • Co-op Multiplayer - Fight alongside a friend in Steam-powered co-op. Coordinate, cover, survive together — or fall apart trying.

  • Echo's Story - Uncover the fragmented truth behind your existence through environmental storytelling, NPC encounters, and Echo's own inner monologue.

  • Dynamic Weather and Sandstorm - Walls of sand sweep across the canyon, stripping visibility and turning the battlefield into chaos. Survive the storm and survive what comes within.

The desert doesn't forgive hesitation. Neither do they.
