What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“VR Lightgun Framework is already a great way to play light gun games in VR, but as light gun games are a pretty large category, I am unable to test every single one. The early access period will primarily be focused on creating new profiles and control schemes for specific lightgun games that users want supported. In addition, I only have one VR headset at home so to ensure compatibility with the maximum amount of VR headsets, Early Access will be used to gather reports of playability issues with other headsets and controllers.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Maximum compatibility with popular light gun games and VR headsets, improved performance.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Many of the most popular games are playable and have bespoke control schemes already, including most of the ones that are currently available on Steam.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The Steam forums will ideally be where people can request specific games that they want supported and report issues with their VR hardware.”

About This Game

VRLF: Virtual Reality Lightgun Framework is a framework for playing light gun games using your VR controllers as the gun. For too long, playing light gun games at home required expensive special hardware or a fancy CRT monitor - but no more! Using your existing VR headset and controllers, VRLF offers a simple and immersive way to adapt light gun games and make them playable, accurate and immersive.

  • Support for multiple control types (shoot off screen to reload, crouch to reload, DSU protocol for Dolphin and more)

  • User configurable via JSON profiles for maximum compatibility with as many games as possible.

  • Steam Workshop support for sharing user profiles - Supports any game you want it to!

  • 3D scans of popular home light guns including G-Con45 and the Nintendo Zapper.

  • Experimental online multiplayer support. Join a friend through Steam and stream video/inputs to recreate local 2 player light gun action. Requires fast internet!

  • Ships with support for lots of light gun games available on Steam including but not limited to: The House of the Dead Overkill, The House of the Dead Remake, The House of the Dead 2 Remake, Heavy Fire series, Blue Estate, Railbreak, BioCrisis and more. Some games require mods to enable light gun support.

Note: Virtual Reality Lightgun Framework does not include any light gun games, the user brings their own games and uses the framework to make them playable in VR.
