What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Satawn combines farming, construction, exploration, social simulation, quests, and story-driven events within a persistent village. Early Access will allow us to continue developing these interconnected systems alongside the people playing them.

Our goal is to use player feedback to improve balance, usability, progression, stability, and the parts of village life that players find most engaging. We are committed to continuing development, communicating our progress, addressing reported issues, and working toward a complete version of the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Satawn to remain in Early Access for approximately 18 to 24 months. This is an estimate rather than a guaranteed deadline, as the schedule may change depending on development progress and community feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Tor the full version, we plan to expand the main story and its progression, add more quests, village events, locations, characters, dialogue, crops, recipes, items, and construction options.

We also plan to deepen the relationships, economy, farming, crafting, building, and persistent village simulation systems. Development toward version 1.0 will additionally focus on balancing progression, improving tutorials and accessibility, refining the interface, optimizing performance, fixing bugs, and polishing the overall experience.

These plans may evolve during Early Access in response to testing and community feedback.

The current build also includes dialogue, cinematics, combat encounters, world events, an economy, and persistent save progression. English and Spanish localization are available.

The main story and overall amount of content are not yet complete. Some systems, balancing, interface elements, and existing content will continue to change during development. Players should also expect occasional bugs, and major updates may sometimes require adjustments to existing save files.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version currently provides a playable single-player foundation. Players can explore connected village areas, experience a day-and-night cycle, interact with townspeople and their daily routines, complete available tasks and favors, farm and harvest crops, collect resources, craft items, trade with merchants, manage inventory and storage, and construct or place structures and furniture.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer Satawn at a lower price during the earlier stages of Early Access and gradually raise the price as substantial new content, features, and improvements are added. We currently expect the final version to have a higher base price than the initial Early Access release.

Any planned price change will be communicated to the community in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use the Steam Community Hub, Steam Discussions, and development announcements as our primary channels for communicating with players.

We will regularly review bug reports, suggestions, balance feedback, and comments about progression, controls, usability, farming, construction, quests, and village simulation—especially following major updates. This feedback will help us identify problems, prioritize improvements, refine existing systems, and evaluate which areas of the game need additional content or explanation.

We will share update notes and information about significant development changes so that players can follow the project’s progress. While the game’s central setting and creative direction will remain consistent, community feedback will have a meaningful impact on balancing, quality-of-life improvements, accessibility, and development priorities.”

About This Game

Satawn is a 2D game about rural life, exploration, and social simulation, set in a world inspired by the 1700s. You travel through a living village, speak with townsfolk who each have their own personalities, habits, relationships, and ways of expressing themselves, and make your way through favors, requests, tasks, cinematics, and everyday decisions that gradually shape the life of the place.

Satawn invites you to experience the calm, the conflicts, and the small dramas of an 18th-century rural village. Talk to its inhabitants, earn their trust, take on requests, work the land, build structures, and uncover stories that intertwine within a persistent world. Blending life simulation, social relationships, and emergent storytelling, Satawn turns everyday village life into its greatest adventure.
