Reviews

“Sharp, flavorful writing.”
Tanya X. Short, designer/director of Moon Hunters and Boyfriend Dungeon

“For fans of Disco Elysium, Planescape, Grant Morrison, Weird LucasArts. Run don't walk!”
Jeanne Thornton, author of A/S/L and publisher of Videogames for Humans

“It’s like someone put a bunch of psychedelic comic artists from the 70s on ice then defrosted them today and fed them a diet of adventure games and strong drinks. Fearless and untethered stuff!”
Sam Barlow, designer/director of Her Story, Telling Lies, and Immortality

About This Demo

Back home in Houston, your dad is falling apart and so is his legendary black cat-themed metal bar. An unsettling local church wants to replace the entire strip mall (where you grew up) with something sinister. Good news: you find a pool of hallucinogenic slime oozing out of the ice machine in the bar’s empty storage room. It’s your inheritance, kid! All great bars across space and time are connected through psychotropic liquid doorways.

You plunge into the shimmering abyss, blundering relentlessly through history, metaphysics, and vice toward supernatural revelation. When do strangers become family? And when family is threatened, how far will you go to protect your own little chunk of dirtbag heaven?

EVERY NEW BAR IS A KNOT TO UNTANGLE. Read the room. Make connections. Dig through decades of old postcards, occult books, haunted software, strange guerrilla art. Balance a pirate ship by reshuffling masquerade guests, rewire possessed slot machines to solve a decades-old massacre, untangle the drama of a spectral polycule, decode the graffiti styles of 1980s Tokyo.

COLLECT AND LEVEL UP SKILLS. Learn BARTENDING in a 1970s occult swinger bar by coaxing sex and death memories from witches and recombining them into psychoactive cocktails. Learn SEDUCTION on a floating tripot to map the social dynamics of a tarot-themed masquerade. Learn GAMING by beating slot machine ghosts at a figurative card game. Skills level up the more you use them. Shake loose clues in order to slowly unzip every bar's tantalizing mystery.

MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH A STRANGER. Guzzle down raw unpasteurized humanity without concrete social consequences. Nothing matters and everyone is beautiful.

WHAT'S IN THE DEMO:  3-4 hours of game play, meaning the the tutorial plus three complete levels. Players will experience a full loop of the game (Houston, ELSEWHERE, Houston), where they venture out to a new bar and then return home with new skills that will allow them to confront new challenges. All three levels will require a player's full wits and full attention.
