Why Early Access?

“Calmaria is built around interlocking systems: farming, production, island ecology, enemy waves, exploration, logistics, and co-op. Early Access lets us test those systems with real players before locking the game into a final shape. We want feedback on pacing, balance, manual logistics, environmental pressure, co-op stability, and which parts of the island-building loop feel most rewarding.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Calmaria to stay in Early Access for roughly 2-4 months, but the exact timing will depend on development progress, player feedback, and the quality of the core systems. We prefer to leave Early Access when the game’s progression, content depth, co-op, save/load, and polish feel ready, rather than committing to a fixed date too early.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In Early Access, Calmaria focuses on the core island-builder loop: gathering, farming, production chains, environmental effects, enemy waves, the first exploration goals, basic sailing, caves, loot, drones, and co-op foundations.
For the full version, we plan to expand the scope with more complete archipelago progression, more island specialization, deeper logistics such as expanded drones and automated boat routes, richer cave and dungeon content, more equipment and playstyle options, additional defensive choices, broader enemy variety, improved UI feedback, balance, audio, VFX, and general polish. These are our current development goals, and the exact final scope may change based on testing and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version features a playable foundation: a procedural archipelago, resource gathering, farming, production buildings, inventory, item stats and rarity, technologies, quests, enemy waves, loot chests, environmental effects on crops, basic sailing, caves, dungeons, early drone logistics, and co-op systems. Some areas are still a work in progress: further progression, greater enemy and biome variety, expanded automation, deeper dungeons, more defense options, UI refinement, balancing, and extensive co-op testing.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We have not made final pricing decisions yet. Our current intention is that the price may increase as the game grows in content, scope, and polish during Early Access and toward the full release. Any pricing changes will be communicated clearly in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use community feedback to guide balancing and prioritization, especially around the first 2-5 hours of play, co-op sessions, save/load reliability, pacing, logistics, environmental systems, combat pressure, exploration goals, and quality-of-life improvements. Feedback from players will help us decide which systems need tuning, which features should be expanded first, and where the game is unclear or too repetitive.
We also plan to share development updates and use player reports, bug reports, discussions, and playtest feedback as part of the Early Access process.”
