Late Ming: Magistrate Simulation & Management is an immersive county reconstruction simulation game set against the chaotic background of the late Ming Dynasty. You will play as a county magistrate appointed in times of crisis, taking charge of a border county in ruins. Faced with famine, banditry, harsh governance and displaced people, you must make choices amid numerous crises, lead this small town to rise again from the ruins, and seek a glimmer of survival in this turbulent era.

As the local governor, your primary duty is to govern people’s livelihood. The civilian system in the game shows the real lives of ordinary people in troubled times. You need to pay attention to public sentiment, assign corvée labor, adjust grain prices and comfort displaced refugees. Every policy you issue will directly affect public support. Unstable public sentiment will make people flee; with popular support, civilians will voluntarily repair city walls, cultivate farmlands, and even stand up to defend the county in times of danger.

In troubled times, intelligence is the key to survival. The game’s unique spy system acts as your eyes and ears, allowing you to perceive everything around you. You can send spies to infiltrate enemy camps, penetrate local noble clans, or investigate the movements of surrounding forces. The intelligence they bring back will serve as a vital basis for you to formulate strategies and resolve crises. Yet be cautious: spies may meet misfortune or be instigated by enemies, delivering deadly false information.

When bandits invade, public support and wisdom alone cannot safeguard your land. You need to establish and develop your military system. From recruiting local warriors and training militias to forging weapons and building city defenses, every step requires careful planning. You can deploy troops personally and command city defense battles to fend off invaders, or adopt conciliatory policies to reach agreements with neighboring forces. The choice between war and peace will profoundly shape the fate of your county.

Talent is the most precious resource in chaotic times. Through the recruitment system, you can discover various talents among refugees, local warriors and impoverished scholars. Some excel at farming and greatly boost crop yields; others master martial arts and become core military forces; a few are well-versed in strategies and offer valuable counsel. Reasonable talent allocation will strongly support your county governance and foreign defense.

To sustain all these undertakings, you must build your county from scratch. The construction system lets you plan urban layouts, gradually transforming ruins into an impregnable border stronghold with government offices, granaries, barracks and workshops. The warehouse system is your lifeline: manage grain, wood, ore, armaments and other supplies properly, balance income and expenditure, and withstand the dual trials of famine and warfare. When resources run short, you can trade with other towns to exchange limited goods for survival.

The game’s map system presents a chaotic sandbox world full of opportunities and dangers. You can explore surrounding villages, abandoned strongholds and trade route checkpoints, or encounter wandering bandits and refugees. Different locations trigger random events, ranging from unexpected treasures to deadly traps. Every exploration is an unknown adventure.

Beyond open governance and warfare, you can uncover hidden secrets with the underground treasure-hunting system. Form expedition teams to delve into ancient tombs, abandoned mines and hidden underground palaces, searching for lost armaments, precious ancient books and treasures capable of turning the tide of war. Yet the underground holds more than wealth: mechanisms, traps and guardian spirits will pose deadly challenges on your treasure hunt.
