Why Early Access?

“Severed Light has been solo-developed with a lot of heart and a lot of systems already in place — but the world still has room to grow! Early Access lets you shape that growth. I'd rather build the final stretch alongside a community than by myself! Community feedback on balance, progression, and content will directly influence what gets built next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly 6–12 months. Development moves at the pace of one person, so I'm not making hard promises — but that's the honest target!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The TDLR; More of the stuff that you are loving. The Early Access version offers a substantial chunk of the world to explore, with combat, loot, quests, and dungeons, home building, foraging, fishing and more already playable. I plan to expand the story to its full conclusion, add additional zones and biomes, deepen the quest lines, introduce more boss encounters, and polish systems based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core game is fully playable — exploration, combat, looting, crafting, quests, dungeons, and character progression are all in. Expect some rough edges, placeholder content in areas, and occasional bugs. This is not a demo though. This is a game you can and hopefully will play for hours and hours :)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to increase the price at final launch. Early community members are getting in at the lowest price the game will be offered at — a personal thank-you for the trust in investing in me and Severed Light.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Directly — its honestly one of my favorite parts of development! I'll be active in the Reddit and Steam forums and plan to use community feedback to prioritize what gets built. Bug reports, balance feedback, and feature suggestions will all be read. I wanna hear about fun adventures and stories and see how i can create more moments for ones like them. This is a one-person project — there's no PR filter between you and me.

About This Game

Severed Light is a dark action RPG and a love letter to the old-school ARPGs we grew up with.
Set in the fractured world of Valdris, you play a nameless hero trying to rebuild a kingdom of men, mer, and beasts — while something ancient and hungry works within to stop you.

Two Continents to Explore

The vibrant lands of Valdris and the frigid wastes of the Kythra Frostlands. Both maps have hand-crafted towns, biomes, dungeons, rivers, quests, and points of interest. Procedural dungeons and random events mean every playthrough feels familiar but never the same.

Theory Crafting at Lv.1

5 classes, each with 5 skills right out of the gate. No waiting around to feel powerful. Pick what you like, invest, evolve.

Light or Darkness 

Defeat the many world bosses and collect their Mantles of Darkness. Equip them and let the power consume you like it did your enemies — or destroy them and rid the world of evil forever. The main quest takes you to the gates of Tarantus to face the dark lord who destroyed everything.


Loot for Days

D2-style tiered drops with randomized prefixes and suffixes. Magic, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Uniques. All hand-crafted with lore attached and new stuff to see as you level up. 30+ helmets, pauldrons, gloves, boots, pants, armor, shields, rings, swords, bows and more.

Build a base... or a Kingdom

Harvest building materials out in the world or buy them in town. Build wherever you want — a small hunting cabin in the frostlands, a fortress by the sea, whatever. It's your world.


Severed Light is in Early Access. The core world is fully playable — the rest is being built in the open.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Severed Light contains fantasy violence including combat, weapons, undead enemies, and player death. Enemies can break apart into pieces upon death and leave pools of blood. All violence is depicted in a pixel art style. Ontop of violence there are also two gambling mini-games to help earn in-game gold and rarer items.
