What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“BonkCity is already content-complete for its core loop — all 4 game modes (Standard, Daily, Endless, Custom), 14 weapons, 6 evolutions, 2 characters, and the Industry Plant boss are shipping at Early Access launch. We're in EA because the Daily leaderboard and Bonk Code sharing features benefit from a real-world playerbase: we need thousands of players hammering on the daily seeds, sharing Bonk Codes, and surfacing the edge cases that playtesting cannot. Community tuning on difficulty curves, anti-cheat thresholds, and leaderboard pacing is the last mile. We want to ship the content now and plan to spend the EA window tightening the social layer with real players in the room.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access is planned for approximately 6–9 months, targeting a 1.0 release in Q1 2027. That timeline could extend if community feedback surfaces a meaningful new direction — we'd rather ship something great than something on schedule. We'll always be transparent about the roadmap in-game and on the Steam community hub.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version plan to add to the Early Access build:
  • 2 additional playable characters (4 total at 1.0)
  • 4 additional weapons and 2 additional evolutions
  • A second boss exclusive to Endless mode (encountered deep in a run)
  • Steam Workshop support for community-authored mixtapes
  • Seasonal Daily leaderboard events with monthly #1 cosmetic rewards
  • Expanded accessibility options and full localization pass
  • Final balance tuning based on Early Access telemetry
We reserve the right to adjust this list based on what the community actually wants. If something we planned isn't resonating, we'd rather replace it than ship filler.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build includes:
  • All 4 game modes: Standard, Daily, Endless, Custom (Bonk Code playback)
  • 14 fully-implemented weapons with auto-fire and targeting tuned
  • 6 evolutions (weapon + drip combinations that transform)
  • 2 playable characters: Trixie and Big Stacks, each with distinct kits
  • The Industry Plant — a 3-phase boss fight at the 14:00 mark
  • Daily leaderboard (global + Steam Friends) with offline queuing
  • Bonk Code export and import for sharing runs
  • Full Steam integration: achievements, cloud saves, Deck Verified target
  • Duffle Bag slot machine, Cell Tower capture, and the full drip/mixtape meta
It is a complete game loop. What's NOT in the EA build: additional characters beyond the 2 launch roster, a second boss, and Workshop support.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do expect the price to increase at 1.0 launch to reflect the additional content. Early Access buyers keep the game and all future updates at no extra cost. If you're in early, you're locked in.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Absolutely. The single most valuable thing about Early Access is the feedback loop. We plan to:
  • Post a transparent roadmap on the Steam community hub and update it monthly
  • Run a Discord server for real-time discussion and bug reports
  • Respond to Steam forum threads personally — no canned responses from a CM team
  • Ship regular patches (targeting bi-weekly during EA) with community-driven priorities
  • Host Daily leaderboard community events where suggestions shape future content
  • Be honest when we change direction and explain why
This is a indie dev. You will get answers from the actual developer, not a support layer. Please push back, complain, suggest — that's the whole point.”

About This Game

The block raised you. The cypher made you. Now a major record label wants to replace you.  BonkCity has the spirit of legendary rougelike games like Vampire Survivors, MegaBonk and other legends of the auto-fire genre.

BonkCity, mid-90s. The Industry has flooded your corner with posers biting your style, hired off-duty cops as private muscle, and put A&R suits on every stoop signing MCs to soul-killing deals. Their endgame is the Industry Plant — a focus-grouped, ghostwritten, label-built fake "MC" designed to bury the real scene. You're the MC who refused to sign. Survive the wave, work up the food chain, and take the fake down in person.

A run lasts 14 minutes. If you're good, it doesn't end there.

Weapons fire on their own — your job is everything else. Pick your lanes when you level, pop chests for drip, capture cell towers for permanent run buffs, and spend your dollars before you die, because you can't take them with you. At 3:00 an A&R suit named Turnpike Tony comes to scout you. At 14:00 the Industry Plant arrives with three phases and no respect. Beat him and you can cash out — or keep going into the Eternal Cypher, where the Industry sends its real heavyweights and survival turns into score.

Build your sound

  • 4 playable MCs, each with their own movement and signature weapon — dash, lime-green scooter, skateboard, or a swarm of bees

  • 17 weapons, from The Mic and Turntables to the Attack Dog and the Block Rocker

  • 10 evolutions: pair the right weapon with the right gear and watch it become something rude

  • 12 mixtapes, 30 drip items, 40 Rep Quests, and 10 Beef challenge runs that remix the rules

Four ways to play

Standard is the classic arcade run. The Daily Block gives everyone on Earth the same seed for 24 hours, one best run, one leaderboard. Endless removes the clock and keeps stacking difficulty. And every run produces a Bonk Code — a short string that encodes the seed, character, and loadout. Send it to a friend and they play your exact hand. Beating someone's run with their own cards is the purest trash talk there is.

Plays anywhere

Offline-first: the Daily map caches locally and scores submit when you reconnect. Full controller and keyboard/mouse support, remappable everything, scalable UI, colorblind-friendly silhouettes, optional screen-shake reduction.

Early Access

The whole core is in at day one: all four modes, the full arsenal, the boss, leaderboards, and Bonk Codes. During Early Access we're adding more weapons and evolutions, a second boss for Endless, and seasonal daily events. Built by 44G, a tiny team. No battle pass, no microtransactions — you buy it, you own it.

Content notice: stylized cartoon violence, no gore, no real-world branding. BonkCity is a tribute to an era.
