Overview

RE∀IVE is a 2D action metroidvania about restoring Lily, a damaged AI companion, on Artificia—an artificial island devastated by civil war. Switch between a human and an AI, combine abilities with collected parts, and uncover the truth hidden beneath a fractured city.

About the Game

Artificia is an artificial island where AI once managed the city’s infrastructure and resources. The distribution system that promised a fair life for all collapsed after the war caused by sudden rebellion of AI, leaving the city divided by control, fear, poverty, and suspicion.

The only family the former soldier protagonist has left is Lily, an AI android who has been by his side since childhood. But Lily has been severely damaged and can no longer move.

To find the parts and repairs needed to restore Lily, the protagonist heads into the back alleys. A chance encounter with an engineer leads him through power plants, sewers, black markets, massive waste-processing zones, abandoned corporate districts, and city hall—deeper and deeper into the city’s fractures.

What begins as a journey to repair Lily soon becomes a search for missing people, concealed records, and the truth behind the war. Along the way, the protagonist must confront the city’s darkest secrets and ask what AI should mean to humanity.

A character who failed to achieve his dream of becoming a programmer due to the wall of reality and enlisted in the military half-desperately, but found military life suited him better than expected and even joined a special operations team.

I had been with 'Lily,' an AI android created by my parents since childhood, for a long time. However, when I returned home after suppressing an AI rebellion, I found my parents missing and 'Lily' completely destroyed, unable to be repaired on my own.

Consequently, the player wanders through Atripicia in search of someone who can repair Lily. And the truth revealed in the process is....

A household android created by the protagonist's parents, who were AI engineers, that has been with the protagonist since they were very young.

It was created quite a while ago and does not have a professional lyrics AI protocol, so it makes many mistakes, but instead, it is equipped with communication and memory functions that the protagonist's parents put a lot of effort into, allowing for a significant level of conversation and emotional expression.

However, for some reason, it has now been completely destroyed and rendered inoperable. What on earth happened to her?

He works as an ordinary bartender at a small bar in a back alley, but he is actually an engineer rumored to be able to fix any machine.

The protagonist, who happened to hear rumors about her, visits her bar to ask Lily to repair something.

Instead of receiving money from the protagonist, she starts making various requests....

Switch Between Human and AI

At the heart of RE∀IVE is the ability to switch between a human and an AI.

The protagonist and Lily approach combat, movement, and exploration in different ways. A place one cannot reach, an obstacle one cannot overcome, or a threat one cannot evade may become a new path through the other’s abilities. Switch at the right moment, connect movement and attacks, and turn the battlefield and its terrain to your advantage.

This is more than a character swap. It changes how you explore and how you fight. Return to familiar areas after gaining new abilities to discover new strategies and rewards.

Build Your Own Way Forward

Explore the city, overcome enemies and bosses, unlock new skills, and collect Bytes. Use the resources you acquire through the engineer to unlock new functions for the protagonist and Lily, or strengthen existing abilities.

Will you prioritize movement to reach previously inaccessible areas, or enhance combat abilities to face powerful enemies head-on? The order in which you unlock abilities changes both your combat flow and your exploration route.

New abilities are not merely stat increases. They become keys to the next area, reveal new meaning in places you have already passed through, and help you create your own combat style.

Conquer Enemies Bosses

Powerful forces guard or occupy every corner of Artificia. Machines left behind by the war, facilities that have slipped out of control, and groups driven by their own beliefs all stand in the protagonist’s way.

Boss fights do not demand a single correct answer. Study patterns, combine the abilities you have prepared, and find an approach that suits your playstyle. Your choices in combat and upgrades will shape the feel of the journey to come.

Explore a Ruined Artificial Island

Travel through crime-ridden back alleys, unstable power plants, hidden sewer routes, black markets full of rumors and goods, vast waste-processing zones, war-torn corporate ruins.

Every area carries the scars of war and the lives of the people left behind. Open new paths, gather records, revisit hidden memories, and uncover how Artificia became what it is today.

Is an AI with memories and emotions merely a tool? What truly separates humans from AI? And does restoring someone mean returning to the past—or beginning a new choice?
