Why Early Access?

“As a solo developer, creating a complex 3D RTS with deep tactical mechanics is a massive undertaking, and I want to make sure the final game is worth the effort players will put into it. Early Access lets me build and balance the game directly alongside the community rather than in isolation. Steam Next Fest showed me that player feedback is essential for tuning unit balance between factions, economy pacing, and AI behavior - issues that only surface once enough different playstyles are put against the systems. Early Access gives me the runway to keep incorporating that feedback before committing to a final release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I plan to keep the game in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months. This timeline gives me enough room to implement new features, fully test the balance between factions, and act on community feedback without rushing the development process.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to expand on the core mechanics established at the start of Early Access in three areas:

New content: at least 2 new expedition maps to explore and conquer.
Deeper systems: an expanded progression tree with unlockable technologies (e.g. fire arrows for ranged units), and more granular economic controls such as civilian work schedules and soldier wages.
Polish: heavily optimized AI, and full Steam achievements support.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game currently features a fully playable core RTS loop, including base building, resource gathering, and tactical combat. Crucially, the foundational Expedition & Logistics system is already fully implemented, complete with the temporary storage wagon mechanics we designed. The first expedition map is 100% functional and playable, offering a stable and complete vertical slice of the game's unique high-stakes exploration loop.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price will likely increase moderately upon full release as more content, features, and polish are added to the game. Buying during Early Access offers players a lower price point and the opportunity to directly shape the game's development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is at the heart of this project. I actively monitor the Steam Discussion forums and maintain an official Discord server where players can directly report bugs, suggest balance changes, and discuss tactical ideas. I will be sharing regular updates, developer logs, and roadmap progressions, ensuring that every piece of feedback is heard and considered.”

Valdrax: Beyond the Rift is a medieval fantasy strategy game inspired by Celtic and Roman military tradition, layered with dark fantasy. Construct and manage a living settlement, forge weapons in your smithy, recruit and train armies, and lead them into an unpredictable world where no two playthroughs are ever the same.

Every kingdom starts with nothing. Choose your land, raise your walls, tend your animals, and prepare for what lurks beyond the tree line.

Every map is procedurally varied. Enemy camps, resource deposits, forests, and stone outcroppings are repositioned each time you play — ensuring that experience, not memory, is your greatest weapon.

Every death is permanent. A veteran Swordsman who has survived ten battles is worth more than three fresh recruits. Lose him and he is gone forever. Choose your engagements carefully.

Every expedition opens a new world.

Your Roman legions stand their ground against a Troll. Every soldier fights until his last breath.

Beyond your walls lie three tiers of expedition maps — small raids, full campaigns, and deep dungeon runs. Breach the rift between realms and face increasingly powerful enemies in search of rare resources and Arcane Crystals. These crystals are the only path to the most powerful creatures in the game — Golems, Werewolves, Vampires, and Dragons.

Somewhere beyond the rift, the Demon Lord waits.
