Germany, 1582.

Renowned artist Theobald Breitsam is found dead in his workshop, surrounded by occult symbols and hundreds of black feathers. His body is covered in wounds - but not by any blade. By something that should not be possible.

The city council already has a suspect accused of witchcraft and wants a verdict before panic spreads.
Conrad is the city's executioner. His job is to carry out the sentence and definitely not ask questions.

But something is very wrong.

And the deeper he looks, the less human this case becomes.

Conrad is a 'dishonorable', an outcast outside of society. Feared, avoided, and invisible when it matters.
Which allows him to go where others cannot - and see what others choose to ignore. From taverns and prison cells to patrician estates and council chambers, Conrad follows a trail of contradictions and carefully hidden secrets.
