About This Game

Beyond The Abandoned is a surreal third-person vertical platformer where you climb through the shifting realms of your mind, confronting hazards, enemies, and risky decisions on your ascent to regain consciousness. Explore over a dozen unique realms in one seamless map, from lava pits to lunar ruins.

No checkpoints. No safety nets. The entire challenge is reaching the top. Fall, learn, and climb again.

Ascending Your Strange Mind

Climb almost any object, slide down any slope, and slam onto any enemy beneath your feet as you journey toward your destination above. The mechanics are snappy and intuitive, great for building speed and momentum once you master the controls. You even have slow-motion and precision walking modes to assist with tighter, riskier sections. Just keep an eye on your climbing stamina and hazard gauge. What could possibly go wrong?

The Abandoned

Your adventure begins surrounded by a moat of lava and a surface of hissing fumaroles, standing alone in the center of a dark, burning world of charred remains and creatures eager to see you fall to your doom. On your climb to escape the Abandoned, patrolling demons stalk the paths and hidden bats wait in the dark, ready to send you down to where your journey began. Loose rocky platforms crumble under your feet, and a towering slope of falling boulders turns every upward step into a gamble.

Enemies & Hazards

Every environment has unique enemies and hazards. Sometimes the mind becomes unstable, causing platforms to collapse beneath your feet or the winds of the snowy mountains to blow you away. Demons, bats, bumblebees, sharks, birds, drones, spiders, and yes, even fluffy marshmallow creatures are ready to knock you off your climb in their own ways.

Prize Machines

Many unlockables are scattered throughout the dreamlike world of Beyond The Abandoned to assist you on your climb. Collect coins and spend them at prize machine locations to unlock trampolines, bridges, and other forms of unexpected transportation. Also, keep your eyes and ears tuned to the whispers of the rare golden skull collectibles around the world!
