Why Early Access?

“"One Dumb Wizard" is an Early Access title because the game is currently content-incomplete as Act 2 and Act 3 are still in development including adding even more ways to customize your wand each run. By releasing in Early Access, it not only supports further development of the game but also allows us to gather useful feedback from the community to help shape the direction of the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“6 to 12 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version, we plan on having all 3 acts completed, many more wand charms, even more options to customize your wand in each run, and more spells. Essentially it would be a more content rich, polished version of what is in Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The gameplay loop of fight, loot, craft wands, and cast spells is complete along with all of Act 1 ("The Basement"). There are over a dozen unique wands the player can craft as well as numerous charms and spells. There is also a meta progression system where new loot is unlocked that may show up in future runs as the player levels up.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As more content releases and future Acts are finished, we plan on increasing the price to reflect that.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan on gathering player feedback from the Discord for suggestions and reactions from the community to help guide future development to deliver the best version of the game.”

About This Game

"One Dumb Wizard" is a 2D Action Rogue-like where you take on the role of The Wizard on their reckless mission to get their money back from The Bartender.

Use your wand and sling spells to gain the upper hand as you fight through hordes of the Bartender's goons.

Craft new wands and change how you play!

As you explore, you might find curious gems (wand cores) and unique types of wood. These aren't just cosmetic! Use them to craft new wands that use entirely different play styles and attacks. Constantly mix and match cores and wood types to keep your advantage and adapt on the fly!

Add some charm to your run!

In addition to crafting new wands, you'll also find various handy charms that you can attach to your wand. Each charm is unique and offers powerful boosts. Some charms even have different effects depending on the type of wand they're attached to! And don't worry, all your charms stay with you as you jump from wand to wand, so collect as many as you can!

With dozens of charms available to loot (and many more to come!), there's no end to the number of ways you can add some charm to each run!

Find and master spells on the journey to your money!

While lacking in pure destructive power, strategic use of spells might be the ticket to save yourself from perishing. Whether that be erecting walls to isolate a fight, summoning powerful gusts of wind to knock back enemies, or quickly blinking out of danger, a true wizard can always use their tools to stay one step ahead! Besides, what is a wizard without their spells?

Try, try and try again...and then maybe try some more.

During Early Access, "One Dumb Wizard" will constantly be updated with new content in the form of new enemies, wands, charms, spells and many more ways to customize your load out each run as well as fleshing out the story. Join the community to help shape the future of the game!
