“It will be in Early Access for a year at least, maybe two.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Current plans for the full version of the game include: several more iterations on the world map to improve pathing, gameplay, interest and immersion; additional features like NPCs, Factions and Quests; improved sounds and music; loads of more enemies and items; puzzles and more.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of the game includes all features and content listed in the 'About This Game' section below. Please refer to that section for a detailed breakdown of current gameplay mechanics and content.”

About This Game

"Beyond the great plains and mountains, deep inside the forbidden lands, lies a dormant kingdom, unreached in centuries. Those who enter the ranges of its terrible curse, will forever be drifting between its paths, running from its horrible creatures, sleeping in crumbling temples, and watching the lights on the mountain during starry nights."

Introduction

You've set foot into a forbidden land on a haunting journey towards its ancient center. Adapt and exploit every resource at your disposal in this turn-based 3D ASCII roguelike, or see your journey reset along the shifting paths running through its vast wilderness.

Features

  • A Forbidden Land: Explore a hand-made world of dark forests, bottomless lakes, crumbling ruins, and sunken temples. Pass rivers, monster nests and spider forests on an unpredictable path through the wilderness, using the streamlined controller or keyboard inputs.

  • Ebbs and Flows: Forage rusted weapons, scarce supplies and mystical charms to withstand the forces of the world. Enter forgotten temples, damp sewers and abandoned huts to find precious gear. Look out for the little food you can find to avoid starving along the way. Every resource found is vital to survive, so keep an eye out for hidden stashes.

  • Feel Your Heart Beat: Every move is a calculated choice. This is a tense, turn-based experience where one rash step can invite disaster. Time moves only when you do, allowing you to pause, survey the situation, and carefully think about your next step. Should the hero die, the game resets and a new game will start, on a new path, that flows as wildly through the land as the one before.

  • The Living Ghosts: Encounter ferocious wildlife, long lost souls and evil monsters that haunt you in the dark. Carefully balance your approach in the turn-based combat to overcome the dangers of this world, weighing the strengths and weaknesses of your gear and whether to fight or retreat.

  • A Haunting Place: Immerse yourself in the game's moody soundscapes and unique graphics, brought to life by a custom engine that merges retro terminal aesthetics with modern 3D depth, adding dynamic lighting and visual flourishes like day, night and weather cycles.

"That narrow, broken path through the trees there. Snakes all the way deep into the kingdom." The old man looks at you. "Rubble and curses are all that's left there. Some other went there long ago. Looked just like you. Best you find something else." He grows silent, his eyes fixed beyond the trees.
