Why Early Access?

“We are a small indie team of 2.5 people with limited development resources. Early Access is the development approach that suits us best, as it allows us to complete this long-form visual novel in stages.

We have already finished the core story outline, the worldbuilding, and the content of Chapter 1, and we have established a complete development pipeline. We promise to finish all of the content and give the story a complete ending. Throughout development, we will listen to player feedback and keep improving the game experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Because of the special nature of how the story is updated, it is difficult to estimate the duration of Early Access with great precision at this time, but we roughly expect the entire Early Access period to last about 2 years.

During this time, we will keep releasing main story chapters and adding new characters and assets. In the gaps between main story updates, we will also release various standalone short episodes, so that you can still feel the fresh energy of the channel while waiting for new story content.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version, we plan to present you with a complete story ending, telling the entire journey of how Mika, Luna, and you—their temporary cameraman—run the show together.

During Early Access, we plan to keep enriching the game based on development progress, gradually bringing you more story content and more gameplay features unique to visual novels, and continuously improving the overall experience. The current Early Access version already includes the complete main story of Chapter 1, a basic dialogue system, and the initial groundwork of the worldbuilding.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“After multiple rounds of internal polishing and testing, the current Early Access version runs completely and smoothly, with no critical bugs that block game progression. This version includes the opening story of Chapter 1, where you join Mika and Luna's small studio as their temporary cameraman and experience the beginning of the story.

All core basic features of a visual novel have been implemented, including text display, story choices, auto-play, fast-forward, and save/load systems, along with a complete set of character art, scene backgrounds, and matching sound effects. All of the basic features listed in the "About This Game" section are implemented; please refer to that section for more details.

More main story chapters, new characters, short standalone episodes, and gameplay improvements will be rolled out gradually in future updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“《Mika & Luna》 will be completely free throughout, will never charge a fee, and will not include any form of in-game purchases.

Whether you join us during Early Access or wait until the full version is released, you can experience all of the game's content for free. Our team's goal is to create interesting content to share with everyone, not to monetize quickly for profit, so there are no plans to charge for anything in this game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will listen to player feedback and fix any bugs players report through the Steam Community, the various social media channels we will open soon, and our official email address.

Whether it's a bug report, a suggestion such as "I'd like a xxx feature" or "I'd like to see xxx story development," or simply sharing how you feel, we will read it all carefully! This feedback will be an important reference for fixing bugs, prioritizing new features, and seriously considering future developments. We look forward to your participation!”
