What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Ultra's Drive is a game built around one simple idea: get in the car, drive, and see what happens. The road already stretches across ten distinct biomes — from open highway to the neon glow of Las Vegas — with a story unfolding one radio transmission at a time, a cop who gets increasingly philosophical the further you run, and Twitch chat riding along as the traffic.
We're bringing it to Early Access because we genuinely want you involved in shaping where it goes next. The core experience is playable, polished, and fun right now. But there's a lot of road still ahead — and we'd rather build it with you than surprise you at the finish line. Your runs, your feedback, and your ideas are going in the tank alongside our own.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're not putting a hard date on it. Honestly, it'll be done when it's right. We're a small team and we'd rather take the time to do things properly than rush a 1.0 out the door. What we can promise is that we'll be active, communicative, and shipping updates consistently throughout. We plan to stay in Early Access for at least a year, possibly longer depending on the scope of what we build together.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version gives you the full cross-country run — all ten biomes, the complete story arc, cop pursuit, fuel management, the Garage, Twitch integration, and Steam achievements. That's a real, complete experience right now.
For the full release, we plan to go further:

Controller & Steam Deck support — We want Ultra's Car Adventure to feel great on a couch with a controller in hand. Full remapping, haptics, and Steam Deck verification are on the roadmap.
Mod & custom sprite support — The Garage already supports custom NPC sprites. We plan to expand this into a proper mod pipeline so the community can create and share their own vehicles, biomes, and content.
Soundtrack expansion — The current audio sets the tone well, but we plan to bring in more original tracks tied to specific biomes and story moments, making each stretch of road feel even more distinct.

We may also grow the game in directions the community points us toward. That's the whole point of doing this together.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the game is a fully playable retro arcade style game where you weave through traffic while things try to distract you. There is a functional twitch integration and we want to dive much deeper in what we can do with the community. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features leading up to the full release. If you get in during Early Access, you're locking in the lowest price the game will ever be — and you'll be with us from the start. We think that's a fair deal, and we appreciate every player who takes the leap early.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“This one matters a lot to us. Here's how we plan to stay connected:

Steam Community forums — Our primary hub for bug reports, suggestions, and general discussion. We'll be reading everything and responding regularly.
Discord — A more direct line to us. Share clips, talk to other players, and weigh in on what gets built next.
Twitch — Your Twitch chat is already in the game as traffic. We plan to keep leaning into this relationship — community streams, developer playthroughs, and feedback sessions built around actual gameplay.
Public roadmap & changelogs — No mystery boxes. We'll publish our roadmap and keep it updated so you always know what we're working on and what's coming.
Bug reporting & feedback surveys — Structured feedback forms at key milestones so your input feeds directly into our sprint planning.

We're a small team and Early Access players are genuine collaborators on this project. We take that seriously.”

About This Game

You've got 100km between you and Las Vegas. Between you and the life-changing jackpot waiting at the end of the road. Between you and answers.

Your phone won't stop buzzing. And the thing is you need to read those messages. The story is in there. The whole reason Ultra is making this trip. But so is the highway: the merging trucks, the potholes, the parked cars jutting into traffic, the concrete barriers that don't move for anyone.

Ultra's Drive is a white-knuckle narrative experience about the impossible task of paying attention to two things at once. The story unfolds entirely through your texts but the road demands your eyes, your reflexes, and every last second of your focus.

Miss the messages, and you'll arrive in Vegas not knowing why you came. Ignore the road, and you won't arrive at all.

  • Story-driven narrative delivered entirely through in-game texts read along or risk missing the plot

  • Dodge traffic, parked cars, barriers, and potholes across a 100km drive to Las Vegas

  • Twitch integration — your live audience can control the cars Ultra is trying to avoid

  • Every run is a split-second test: read the message or watch the road

The rules are simple: stay on the road, avoid the obstacles, reach Vegas at 100km. What makes it hard isn't the traffic — it's the texts and your patience. If you wanna go faster, nothing is stopping you. Just like the real world highway, if you drive faster you are just increasing your risk. You can take your time but the best approach is to stay with the flow of traffic. Manage your speed, attention and Fuel gage.

Ultra's Drive is a story-driven driving game where the narrative appears in real time as you play. Messages scroll in at the worst possible moments. A bombshell revelation just as a truck swerves into your lane. A reply you've been waiting for right as a pothole opens up ahead. You have to choose between paying attention to the road or the narrative, can you do both?

The game rewards players who can do both. It punishes those who can't. And it respects the honest truth that most people will have to choose.

Stream it live and your Twitch chat gets in on the mayhem — viewers can interact with the very cars Ultra is trying to avoid, turning your audience into your biggest threat (or your dark entertainment). The chaos is built in.

At the end of the road is Vegas. At the end of the texts is the truth. Ultra just has to survive long enough to reach both.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

AI Disclaimer: The developer used AI during the development to develop some features, debug and prepare the game for release on Steam.

The developer used AI to learn how to code over the course of 2 years and started to really enjoy making games.

Eventually the goal was to prepare to game for a public release.
