About This Game

Danmaku Engine is a bullet-hell shoot 'em up built around one idea: every element of every stage should be yours to control.

Weave through 21 handcrafted stages across five difficulty tiers from beginner-friendly fan spreads to divine-border curtains that push even seasoned pilots to their limit. Each stage has its own visual identity, bullet architecture, and original music. Clearing them all is the goal. Understanding them is the reward.

CAMPAIGN

21 stages. Five difficulties: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Extreme

Each stage throws a distinct challenge: orbital streams, spiraling neon wisps, industrial barrages, frozen rings colliding with solar bursts, moon-lit curtains of ghost-fire. No two stages play alike, and no stage will forgive you for standing still.

Progress is tracked. Achievements are earned. Secrets reward those who clear what they thought was impossible.

THE EDITOR

The full stage editor used to build the campaign is available to all players from day one.

  • Pattern Editor — design bullet patterns with full control over speed, spread, rotation, timing, and behavior

  • Boss Editor — compose multi-phase boss encounters from your patterns

  • Background Editor — build animated stage backgrounds

  • Music Editor — compose original MIDI tracks with a built-in piano roll, multi-layer instruments, and playback preview

  • Level Editor — assemble patterns, bosses, backgrounds, and music into a complete playable stage

Everything you see in the campaign was made with these tools. Nothing is locked behind them.

EARLY ACCESS

Danmaku Engine is in active development. The core gameplay loop, all 21 campaign stages, and the full editor suite are playable now. More stages, editor features, and quality-of-life improvements are planned throughout Early Access based on player feedback.
