About This Game

Bad run? Good haul.

In Back for Loot, getting knocked out sends you back to the entrance. Luckily, you get to keep the gold. Spend your haul on permanent upgrades, send your party back into the fray, and get past the boss that flattened you last time.

A solo incremental roguelite with short runs and a taste for fantasy nonsense, Back for Loot follows four ordinary people trying to escape a kingdom where adventures never end. They'd like to go home. You might want another upgrade first.

Give the boss a good shake

Your party keeps moving, and your health keeps ticking down. Hold to attack as you fight your way through each region, or unlock Auto Attack and let the party take it from there.

Each region ends with a boss sitting on a pile of treasure. Every hit knocks out gold. You don't have to win to walk away with something. Even a failed attempt can pay for the upgrade that gets you through on the next run.

Put your last defeat to work

Back at the entrance, it's time to spend. Pick your way through the skill tree, invest in permanent perks, and decide what your party needs before heading out again.

  • Skills and perks: strengthen your heroes with upgrades that suit your playstyle.
  • Prestige: reset the map and come back stronger.
  • Constellations: your first Prestige opens a second progression tree with more upgrades to work toward.
  • Mutators: raise the stakes with tougher runs and bigger rewards.

Chosen heroes. Questionable qualifications.

Raul, Iris, Nilo and Berenice only wanted a go on a fairground attraction called The Last Adventure. They were promised an exit through the gift shop. They got the Kingdom of Eve.

Now there's a prophecy to fulfill, a way home to find, and Master Severin, the Brief, to explain it all. At length.

Meet The Bad Omen Company:
  • Raul, the Contrarian Squire: will put himself between you and a monster. He will also say “I told you so.”
  • Iris, the Witness Hunter: armed with arrows of light and a few questions the monsters would rather not answer.
  • Nilo, the Wizard by Insistence: firmly believes there's no problem that more fire can't solve.
  • Berenice, the Saint of Sass: keeps a healing cauldron handy. Chosen one or not, you're eating before you save the world.
Need a little extra muscle? Hire mercenaries to back you up. Heroism is their business. Literally.

An entire kingdom with unfinished business

Explore 25 regions, each with its own boss, in a world that never quite gets to “happily ever after.”

The royal wedding is tomorrow. It has been tomorrow for six hundred years. At the Cemetery of the Provisionally Deceased, the dead are still waiting for their memorials to wrap up. The dwarves at the Forge of the Perfect Sword insist their weapons need just one more adjustment. And in the Hell of Pending Appeals, even a demon's vacation request can be stuck in limbo.

Somewhere beyond all that is the way home. And quite a lot of gold.

Also included: Steam Achievements, weekly leaderboards and Steam Cloud saves. Play in English or Brazilian Portuguese.

One more run. Then you're definitely leaving.
