The goal is to continue polishing the game, improve quality of life, gather community feedback, and support the project on the path toward full release. Early Access will also help guide priorities for the next phases of the restoration.”

“We expect Darkstone Restoration to remain in Early Access for several months.

The exact duration may vary depending on development progress, technical requirements, and community feedback. Rather than commit to a fixed final date too early, we want to keep enough flexibility to do the work properly.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is planned to focus on the restored core Darkstone experience for modern PCs: compatibility, stability, readability, improved usability, and quality-of-life improvements.

As development continues, the full version is intended to include further polish, additional refinements, and potentially the restoration of other important parts of Darkstone’s legacy, such as modernized network functionality and a new Quest Editor built around the foundations and spirit of the original tool, depending on technical progress and community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The project already has a strong restored core in place and is being prepared for its Early Access release.

The planned Early Access version is intended to provide a solid, playable foundation of Darkstone Restoration on modern PCs, including:

- the restored core Darkstone experience
- improved compatibility and stability
- improved readability and quality of life
- usability and interface comfort improvements
- ongoing polish and refinement

Early Access is being built around a real, playable game experience rather than an early prototype.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We may increase the price when the game leaves Early Access, depending on how the project evolves during development.

Players joining during Early Access will be supporting the project at an earlier stage and helping shape its future direction.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an important role throughout Early Access.

We want to listen to players, improve the experience over time, and better understand which parts of Darkstone’s restoration matter most to the community. Feedback gathered during Early Access will help guide polish, quality-of-life priorities, and the direction of longer-term restoration work.”

About This Game

Darkstone Restoration brings the classic action RPG back to modern PCs with improved stability, compatibility, readability, controls, and quality-of-life improvements — while preserving the spirit of the original game.

Personally led by Paul Cuisset, creator of the original Darkstone, this restoration is designed to make the game feel right to play again today without losing what made it special.

The restored core experience is already well underway. Early Access will mark the first public step of the project, allowing the game to continue evolving through polish, refinement, and community feedback on the path toward full release.

Beyond the restored core, the project may also extend the restoration into other important parts of Darkstone’s legacy, including modernized network functionality and a new Quest Editor built around the foundations and spirit of the original tool, depending on technical progress and community feedback.
