What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“D6SCEND is built on the design pillars of spatial reasoning mastery and player discovery. Because the game's difficulty comes entirely from thinking rather than execution, putting it in the hands of players early is crucial. Early Access allows us to observe how different players approach our 3D spatial puzzles, helping us perfectly tune the difficulty curve and ensure our "fail forward" design—where mistakes aren't harshly punished—feels balanced and rewarding.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate the game will be in Early Access for approximately 6 to 8 months. This timeline provides us with the necessary runway to iterate on community feedback, design the remaining handcrafted puzzle levels, and rigorously test new tile mechanics.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to feature a complete, expanded roster of handcrafted levels with increasing spatial complexity. We plan to introduce our experimental tile types, including Toggle Tiles that dynamically alter pathways, and Advanced Rotation Tiles that apply unpredictable or multi-axis orientation changes. Furthermore, we intend to finalize the UI/UX for our Star System and Par Value feedback, and we are exploring the addition of player-requested features like a move history or Undo system.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay loop and foundational technology in Unreal Engine are fully implemented. Players can experience the minimalist sci-fi presentation while navigating a curated set of early-to-mid-game levels. The primary systems are functional, including discrete grid-based movement, dynamic dice orientation tracking, vertical traversal via teleport tiles, and the non-punishing fall recovery system.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer the game at a lower price during Early Access to thank our initial community for their feedback and support. We plan to modestly increase the price upon the final 1.0 release to reflect the expanded level count and additional gameplay features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will be actively listening to the community via the Steam Forums to track how players are solving the puzzles. We are specifically looking for data on our Par Value system to see if our expected move counts for optimal completion align with actual player performance. Additionally, we want to hear feedback on our accessibility tools, such as the Transparent Cube Mode and Camera Flip, to ensure they provide helpful visual assistance without compromising the core mental challenge.”
