What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“GRIDLANDS is built around tension, risk, and replayable extraction runs. Early Access lets us develop that foundation together with players instead of guessing what works from the outside.

We want the community to help shape the feel of combat, enemy pressure, loot balance, extraction pacing, performance, and overall progression. Our goal is to build a PvE extraction shooter that feels dangerous, rewarding, and worth returning to.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“GRIDLANDS is a long-term project and will continue to grow throughout Early Access. We plan to keep improving the core extraction loop with new content, better balance, more weapons and equipment, enemy improvements, performance updates, and bug fixes.

We plan for GRIDLANDS to remain in Early Access for roughly 6–12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version, we plan to expand the game with more areas to explore, more weapons and equipment, additional machine enemies, better progression, more mission variety, improved balancing, and more polish across combat, extraction, UI, audio, and performance.

The goal is for the full version to feel like a more complete and better balanced version of the same core experience, not a different game. Plans may change during development as we learn what works best from players actually playing the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes the core GRIDLANDS gameplay loop: enter a hostile industrial zone, fight machine enemies, search for supplies and weapons, and try to extract before losing what you found.

The game is playable, but still unfinished. Players should expect rough edges, balance changes, missing content, bugs, and systems that may change over time. The current version is focused on establishing the main survival, combat, scavenging, and extraction experience.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as GRIDLANDS receives more content, features, and polish throughout Early Access and leading up to full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community mainly through our Discord server, as well as the Steam Community Hub, reviews, and bug reports.

Discord will be the main place for direct discussion, quick feedback, balance talk, bug reports, and sharing development progress. We will also keep an eye on Steam discussions and reviews so players who prefer to stay on Steam can still be heard.

Feedback about balance, difficulty, performance, controls, enemy behavior, weapons, loot, and extraction flow will be especially useful while we continue developing GRIDLANDS.”

The Machines Took Over.
A planetary AI called The Grid seized control of the surface decades ago. The last humans live underground in geologically isolated bunkers, sending scavengers called "Runners" up to loot the ruins of the old world for supplies the bunkers need to survive.

You're a Runner.
Push out from your bunker into hostile industrial zones - abandoned military compounds, container yards, surveillance checkpoints, human labor camps and factories. Loot weapons, components, and supplies. Rescue stranded survivors. Sabotage The Grid. Then make it back alive. If you die out there, you lose everything you found.

Pure PvE. No other players hunting you. It's you vs. machines.
In Gridlands, threats are drones, turrets, siege units and other robotic weapons controlled by The Grid. They don't sleep, don't blink, and show no mercy.

The Grid learns and grows in aggression.
Every successful run draws more attention. Quiet routes turn into hunting grounds. The more you disrupt The Grid, the more you extract and sabotage, the harder The Grid hits back. Deeper zones hold richer loot - and far worse odds of making it home.

Bring loot home. Upgrade your skills & gear. Build the bunker.
Craft and improve weapons. Upgrade your Runner's skills and gear around your playstyle for greater maneuverability and tactical advantage. Expand the bunker's capabilities, population, and systems. You won't win the war. You'll just buy one more day.
