What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cards of Calling is a game heavily focused on experimentation, build variety, and replayability. Since the core gameplay revolves around deckbuilding, summons, relics, and run progression, community feedback is extremely valuable for balancing and expanding the experience.

Early Access allows us to improve the game together with players while continuing to add new content, mechanics, and polish based on real gameplay feedback. Our goal is to shape Cards of Calling into a deeper and more refined roguelike deckbuilder over time.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Cards of Calling to remain in Early Access for around one year. However, development timelines may change depending on community feedback, feature scope, and overall polish goals.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is planned to provide the full core gameplay loop, but the full version is intended to significantly expand the game’s content and variety.

We plan to add:

Additional regions and enemies
More cards, relics, summons, and events
New bosses and elite encounters
Expanded progression systems
More visual polish, animations, VFX, and audio improvements
Additional quality-of-life features and balance improvements

We also plan to continue refining the overall gameplay experience based on player feedback throughout Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version already includes the core gameplay systems of Cards of Calling. Players can explore the overworld, participate in battles, build decks, collect rewards, and experiment with different summon-based strategies.

The game currently includes:

A playable core progression loop
Multiple card types and summon mechanics
Different enemy encounter types, including elite fights and boss battles
Relics and combat modifiers
A variety of cards and build possibilities
Original UI, VFX, animations, and audio implementation

While the foundation of the game is fully playable, additional content, balancing, optimization, and polish are still planned during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to gradually increase the price as major content updates and features are added during Early Access.

Players who join Early Access earlier will be able to access the game at a lower price while supporting the game’s development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play a major role during development. We plan to actively listen to player feedback through Steam discussions, community posts, social media, and gameplay videos.

Player feedback will help us improve balancing, identify issues, refine mechanics, and prioritize future content updates. Since Cards of Calling is a highly replayable roguelike deckbuilder, community input is especially valuable for shaping the long-term experience.”
