About This Game

Mortrёshka 1905 is a unique blend of sokoban puzzle with merging mechanics and a dark resistance sim, set in the afterlife city of Nawia.

An evil Wizard, having taken the form of a dark god, holds Nawia hostage. The newly deceased who enter the city become prey for his army of minions: they are captured, hauled to the castle, and turned into soulless soldiers. Your task is to break this cycle of death and bring life and peace back to the city.

MERGE THE SISTERS AT THE RITUAL BONFIRE

In front of you lies a field of matryoshka halves and whole dolls. Merge them together to fuel the ritual bonfire. Each successful merger brings the moment of resurrection closer, but obstacles and the dark forces' machinations will try to disrupt your ritual.

LIVING WATER AND CLASSES

Before lighting the bonfire, you must deliver living water to the graves. Once resurrected, the dead gain a new will: some can work peacefully, while others can fight and defend.

RESURRECT AND COMMAND

When the bonfire is lit, the deceased rise from their graves. Now they are your key resource, loyal to you. Deploy them across the map of the afterlife city of Nawia and assign them to points of interest to influence the city through peaceful means.

DEFEND AND FIGHT BACK

The evil Mage will not back down without a fight. His minion hives raid the peaceful afterlife citizens. Use your resurrected fighters to repel attacks, destroy hives, and protect civilian districts.

  • Raids & hives: eliminate minion hives and sabotage to restore peace to the afterlife city.

  • Two endings: restore the city's balance and see the dark forces leave peacefully or launch a final assault on the castle.

Mortrёshka 1905 is a story about how even after death, you can choose bread over the sword, a living city over chains. The choice is yours.
