Leaving Early Access: 2027

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Early Access format allows me to incorporate players' feedback and suggestions as I add in more content and explore the game's playspace. I've used Early Access for another game (Moondrop), and that game successfully reached its 1.0 release and left Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in Early Access for 6 - 12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to add in additional dungeon levels (including a two-headed fire- and ice-breathing dragon), additional starting kits for all characters, more gods to pray to, more enemies, and more items. I plan to add an enchanting system to help upgrade and specialize your build and a way to gain allies and monsters to fight on your team.

See the roadmap in the store description for more details :)

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The first six levels of the dungeon (of a planned ten) are in place, filled with enemies, traps, and loot. Three classes, eight starting builds, and two gods are implemented. Forty-five items and twenty-one monsters (including three boss fights and three mini-bosses) are ready.

The player can complete the game by beating the final boss on the lowest level.

All of the systems are coded and in place. The bones are there, but I'll need time (and feedback!) to fine tune and balance the systems. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to increase the price on leaving Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'm one person, so I've got my own views on what's cool about Ball, Fall, Dungeon Crawl. Opening the game up for Early Access means that other people can tell me what they find cool about the game, and then I can make more of that cool stuff.

If I didn't get that feedback and I kept on developing the game on my own, I could only focus on the stuff I think is cool. It's created in a sort of vacuum. I want to use EA to steer the direction of the game and give players a voice in its journey.

Players can contact me through the Steam forums here or through the Discord server. (A link is on this page and inside the game.)”

About This Game

Explore a dangerous dungeon to recover the legendary Amulet of Endor! Powerful monsters lurk below, and your torch is the only thing keeping the dark miasma at bay. Keep it lit and you might make it out alive.

Battle fearsome foes, monstrous monstrosities, and (of course) rats. Every turn, pull five balls out of your magic bag. Drop three of them onto the field. When two balls of the same size and type collide, they merge together and you will deal damage. Or add armor. Or gain mana. Or poison a monster. Or light everything on fire. Or pray to a forgotten god. Learn to set up combos for double damage. Learn to avoid traps, then learn how to take advantage of them. Lure monsters into terrain where they are disadvantaged - a watery pit, a slimy tunnel, or an explosive armory. Blow things up. Die often.

Die often, and die again. Start from the beginning. Gather treasure - powerful items that add to your deck and grant new special abilities. Throw bombs and use potions. Unlock new classes and new starting gear. Fight bosses, die again.

Crawl, fight, drop. Go deeper, get smarter, get the Amulet, get out alive.
